Set up a headset on PS3. Solved

Question

Hello, I'm reaching out for help to fix a little problem with my PS3. I bought a TV that (unfortunately) doesn't have a headphone jack. I saw that there are headphones with a USB plug, so I bought one. The problem is that I can't redirect the sound from the console to the headphones. In the sound settings panel, it only offers to direct the sound to my TV (HDMI, SCART, etc.) but not to the headset.

So if anyone has the answer (if there is one), please let me know.

Hello,
well the headset is installed (HAMA BSH-180), the microphone works, I can change my voice, but as soon as I exit the menu and go to a game (any game), bam! nothing, the sound comes out through the TV, knowing that I am connected via SCART...
how can I play without the rest of the family having to endure the gunfire throughout the house! Thank you for your help.

Here I am again! =D

So here it is (well I don't have the headset anymore, my brother must have broken it one day while losing it... *whistles*)

You go to settings (you know, where all the options are)
>Accessories
>Audio devices
>Output device

and there you choose your headset!

Logically, it should be C-media USB-Set...

Then click ok.

By doing this, all sounds should (if everything is normal xD) come out through the headset =)

(hey I'm not a sound engineer for nothing, huh *show off*)

Although that isn’t difficult! xD but you have to know it! :D

Hello it might be silly to say, but since the headset is from Microsoft, (Sony and Microsoft aren't exactly best friends in the world)  could that explain the poor performance, right???

But it still seems strange to me o_O

I know that when I plugged in my headset, it didn't display anything, but it still showed up in the devices.

Then again, we need to see if it's not compatible with PS3 :-/

mmmh yes I think that might be it. Just a compatibility issue with the headset. It would make more sense since it works for Meage. I'll try another headset to see if it works. Thanks anyway for the help ^^.

I believe it’s Logitech that made a USB headset-microphone compatible with PS3,
I don’t know the reference, I found it using Google, I just remember that it was much more expensive than an earpiece (around €60-70).

I think I've found it.

I see there's an audio toggle system? To mute the music during a call on MSN or Skype or something else?

I don't think it's compatible with the PS3, since it doesn't have that option. At least, I think so.

Simply put, some headphones are not very efficient in satisfying all your needs like the JABRA125, which has super clear audio quality in and out but has the same issue as your headphones.

So don't look for something that's not there or you'll just have to change your headphones (PS3live lists almost all headphones) or just settle for what you have like I do.
It's sad to say, but what can we do?

Those with a SCART or HDMI connection will need an AV receiver with a Jack output for sound. However, you can still keep the HDMI or SCART for better image quality at the same time.
