Hello,
I wanted to ask for your help because I searched for solutions on the internet, but I found no answer!
So, I have The Sims 2 (No Add-ons) and I downloaded clothes and hair for my sims, but they do not appear in the game! No window appears at the startup of the Main Menu asking for the activation of custom content, I checked the Settings and there, the custom content is activated (The "With" option is checked). I created the "Downloads" folder with the correct spelling, and I tried putting my downloads in "SavedSims" and in "Collection", but still nothing!
A few details: I have the Vista version of Windows, a recent laptop, and I still have plenty of space on my hard drive. When I start The Sims 2, I right-click on the icon and click "Run as administrator" (Otherwise it doesn't work). The game runs really well.
I think I said everything, I hope I was clear and that you can help me because I admit that I'm a bit on edge! ^^
Thanks in advance, KLY007.

Hello, I have a laptop with Vista, the game works and I can see my downloads very well. It's true that some objects, genetic and others sometimes require the user to have the Sims 2 Add-ons. Anyway, my downloads are placed in the "download" folder but not in "savedsims" or "collections"; they are simply placed in the "download" folder. In "savedsims," we integrate the Sims characters that we have downloaded.
I hope this helps you solve your problem. There is also an issue with several "Sims 2" folders, meaning that when you install the game, several EA GAMES / Sims 2 folders are installed in different places on the computer. It is therefore possible that the "Download" folder created is integrated into the wrong EA GAMES file. Mine is located in "My Documents"/EAGAMES...

Hello everyone, I don't know if the answer has been provided, but I've already encountered this issue.
- Create a second folder called "Downloads" (a copy of the first)
- And rename it "Download" without the "S"; I think that works like this...
There you go, I hope I've helped many of you, see you later.

Hi there! I had the same issue, but I found THE solution.
1°) Check that you have downloaded WINRAR files (clothes, hair packs, etc...)
2°) Go to EA GAMES / THE SIMS 2 / DOWNLOADS
3°) You will see small icons with books in the DOWNLOADS folder (these are the WINRAR files you downloaded).
4°) Select them and right-click your mouse
5°) Click on EXTRACT FILES
WARNING: EXTRACT FILES only works with WINRAR files!!!!
I hope I have been clear to help you. Good luck in the game!

I did everything you said, but could you give me a clarification?
So here it is: you say: "Click on EXTRACT FILES"; that's what I did, but then there’s a Windows window with a bunch of checkboxes:
"UPDATE MODE:
#-extract/replace files
#-extract/update files
#-update existing only"
etc etc...
Which boxes should I check?
Thank you :)

The stupid question that kills: did you unzip it before putting it in the "downloads"?
I know, it's silly, but it has happened.
do you have the meshes that go with it?
If you have no add-ons, BE CAREFUL, now many objects or clothes require these add-ons, sometimes it's mentioned, but not always.

Yes, I’ve extracted everything and I have all the meshes! =)
Regarding the add-ons, yes I know, but if, as you say, there was a need for an add-on, it seems to me that I would see clothes I already have instead of the downloaded clothes. However, here, I don’t see any changes; it’s as if there’s nothing in my "Downloads" folder! =S I don't even have the confirmation window for activating the downloaded folders... =S
Thank you, Danny, for your answer. =)

I have exactly the same issue, I also have Vista and I think it's not unfamiliar with the problem, because when I had Windows XP, there was no issue. If someone who has Vista and doesn't have this problem could say how they did it, please t.t!
I also have Vista and everything is going well, my downloads are in "my documents" "EA games" "downloads", I don't even sort the characters' clothes or hairstyles, I just put everything together and it's fine. However, be careful when downloading because if you try to install a mesh that requires an add-on and you don't have it, it causes the game to crash, with an error message like "fatal error the application will close."
I also have this problem, and I have a Vista version on Windows XP; I think it's just a theme, but I'm not entirely sure. In any case, my software like Word, Excel, etc. are the Vista versions, but my startup page is definitely XP (I didn't set up the computer myself)... Maybe there's a connection with the fact that we can't get these *** downloads! Yet I did everything necessary (created the Downloads folder, extracted the files, enabled custom content, etc.) and the downloads window still doesn't open at the beginning of the game.
Personally, my Downloads folder is in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Deluxe\Downloads
But I doubt that changes anything...
SO IF ANYONE FINALLY HAS A VALID SOLUTION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I’m good, I had put my downloads in => computer => Ea games => downloads
while I was supposed to put them in => my documents => Ea games => downloads!
So there, my issue is fixed. Thank you.
Lydie.

If your downloads do not appear despite all your efforts, then try this: see if your other folders start with a capital letter; in that case, the Downloads folder you are adding must also have a capital letter. I had the same problem too!

Hello everyone!
I also have a problem like that; for me, only the objects for the house are not working. For some, I don't have the mesh, but I don't know how to get it since it isn't provided when I download the product. In WinRAR, the mesh doesn't appear.
What should I do?

please help me
I was supposed to reset the computer and I didn't have my codes, so I took another one, and I would like to know if the Downloads won't be affected by that.
Hi,
If you can't find your downloads in the game, there’s definitely something wrong.
1) The first time you went to the folder C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2, did you find the Downloads folder? If you didn't find it, DO NOT create a folder by that name, it won't work!
2) Install The Sims 2: BodyShop (or if your game is in English, BodyShop), it’s a program that comes with the game when you install it. Strangely, on XP it installs automatically but not on Vista, so make sure it is properly installed. If it is installed correctly, you will see a folder named Downloads that you DID NOT CREATE YOURSELF appear. It should work. :)
