Hello,
In my car, the RT3 unit is no longer receiving radio. The OS was updated by a FIAT agent because it was frequently rebooting 30 seconds after engine start. A few months later, the radio stopped receiving. The rest works, but it feels like the antenna is unplugged.
There are several posts on other forums that seem worrying:
Repair by FIAT: 3000€ to change the whole module, the unit, the screen, the control stalk, probably having to pair the new device with the vehicle's central computer (engine control unit?)
Changing the unit myself by buying on eBay: some posts indicate people who replaced a radio unit with an RT3 and not only does nothing work, but it activates the immobilizer and the car won't start.
Repairing the RT3 rather than changing it: posts suggest Clarion, which on its site quickly redirects us back to our dear manufacturer's network
Finally, other posts clearly indicate that the manufacturer's agents protect their 3000€ (or 2000 for PSA) by refusing to pair units they haven't purchased (new) themselves.
Those who mention Clarion paid 60€!
I don't see who can represent Magnetti Marelli outside of the car manufacturer networks if car audio installers don't want them (Magnetti Marelli probably only does OEM, no free distribution or else: where?)

Does anyone have a good idea to restore the radio to my car?

Hi,

I had the same problem with my Fiat Ulysse (2.2JTD 2002) whose radio had completely gone silent. I managed to fix it this way:
I found an RT3 online for €100 (not at auction, as the prices go up too quickly).
After replacing my RT3 with the one I bought, I did indeed encounter the problem of the activated anti-theft system (which doesn’t prevent the car from starting, but it beeps all the time).
In a moment of desperation, I decided to open both RT3 units to compare them. I realized that the motherboard is in two parts: one is difficult to disassemble (the one to which the radio module is connected) and the other contains the Magnetti Marelli chip (completely disassemblable). So, I replaced the part of the board containing the Magnetti Marelli chip on my new RT3 with the same board part from my original RT3.
I put everything back together and, oh miracle, it WORKS PERFECTLY. No more issues with the anti-theft system, a working radio, all for €100 instead of €3000, as they try to sell us at the garages.

Hello

Could you please make me a small diagram for removing the chip from the RT3?
I think I have a problem with the RT3 radio or the CD-ROM reader.

Thank you for your response

Best regards

During the installation of a new RT3 called "connect" at LANCIA & FIAT, the beeping sound is not activated by the system as an anti-theft measure but simply because the system does not recognize this new unit. Therefore, you need to contact your dealership which, via the diagnostic socket, must enter the vehicle's serial number into the unit (rt3 - wip connect). Cost is about 20 euros in 2/3 minutes.
WARNING, a monochrome unit must be replaced by a monochrome one and a color unit by a color one.
In case you're considering switching from monochrome, financially speaking, you need to keep in mind (replacement of the unit + central speedometer (odometer), optical fiber + some soldering to modify the existing one); it's not complicated, but you have to be handy because at all our dealerships (fiat-lancia-peugeot-citroen), if it's not original, it's not possible, goodbye everyone. I have not yet resolved to send my RT3 by post to Lyon; however, following other indications, I contacted a Peugeot dealership that sells similar 807s equipped with the same unit. PSA and FIAT have managed to differentiate one of the calculators in the vehicle: to please the FIAT diagnostic tool, one of the boards has a different program, and therefore the Peugeot tool cannot read the diagnostic of a FIAT and vice versa. Peugeot cannot repair it! Better yet: all the calculators in the vehicle, including the RT3 (which I already knew), exchange their serial numbers during the first startup and therefore do not accept anything else. Unless reprogrammed by the famous diagnostic tool. And the Peugeot diagnostic tool does not have access to a FIAT.
This is what makes some internet users who have changed an RD4 for an RT3 realize that the car no longer starts. Indeed, the engine calculator does not want to start with a radio that it does not know.
I hope the electrician in Lyon properly classifies his equipment, because if he sends me another RT3, nothing will work anymore: it must be mine. Additionally, if he has to change the circuit that carries the serial number, it is certain that everything will fall apart.

The advice or rather the example given by the receptionist is mind-blowing: very often customers who have to pay a lot for a spare part end up breaking their own car, getting rid of the object of the malfunction, and filing a theft complaint.
How naive I am! I hadn't thought to use insurance to cover the consequences of the organized racket by the PR of our manufacturers!!!
I will not make any further comments.

Fortunately, he also told me that I lose nothing by complaining to FIAT at DQ... finally my car was built in 2002, I see the depreciation calculation coming, and frankly if I am not taken care of at least 95% (3000€ still) I will not repair it.

Hello,
The same problem occurred with a C8; it turned out to be a weakness in the vehicle's battery that put the radio in OFF mode. I charged the battery, and it works perfectly fine since then. The energy-saving system, which takes priority, detects a lack of power in the battery and prevents the radio from functioning. It's that simple.

Hello
same radio problem with my 807 2.2 HDI SV pack 2003... it just "stopped suddenly"! Minimum quoted by the dealer: at least €250 for the diagnostics alone and at least €500 for the repair... it's a rip-off!!
My RT3 GPS navigation CD is dead and I don't have a copy - do you have a website address to download it?

Hello,
You can find the CD on Torrent and also on newsgroup servers.

Hello,

I had an issue with my Magnetti Marelli on my 807. Radio problem
my CD, GPS everything was working except that I wasn't transmitting anything on waves. I did some research online because Peugeot was asking me for 100 euros and if it wasn't repairable, I would lose that money!!!! Ah, these mechanics and dealerships... no comment!! So I found the site lesav.com and sent my car radio with a check for 30 euros (handling fees), which was a smaller amount than Peugeot if it wasn't repairable. A site I highly recommend because everything went well, I ended up spending 380 euros (new ones cost between 2000 and 3000 euros) I managed without an intermediary! And surely without any extra charges.

Thanks for the tip, but I bought the used car five years ago: I'm not sure if I inherited the code, and besides, if the chip is changed, a FIAT diagnostic tool is needed to restart the car. Since the bill for FIAT is always €3000, they will prefer to explain to me that I dealt with a rogue and that they can't reinstall this part that won't work: I have to follow the FIAT repair procedure anyway. Where can I find the FIAT diagnostic tool with another provider?
That's what's preventing me from going through Peugeot or Citroën, who outsource the repair to Clarion (found on this forum).
Thanks anyway.

Hi,
Is it the manufacturer's intention? That's what they say.
As long as the product is under warranty, it shouldn't be a problem for you; they will proceed with an exchange.
What I know is that most customer service centers in France subcontract the repairs to the Clarion brand.

I can tell you from experience that none of them have the appropriate technical means to intervene on this type of product because they do not have the technical documents and all the new spare parts.
It involves a lot of makeshift solutions.
In some cases, they use salvaged parts.
The only new parts they can provide you are generic parts.

On the other hand, in Germany, I've heard of a site that supposedly has good technology to work on these products.
A lead to explore.

But my personal feeling is that a repair for this type of product shouldn't cost €300.
At that price, I would change my equipment
Especially when it's just a matter of reflashing an eproom.
But like any market, supply and demand mean that after-sales services take advantage of it.

Hello,

I had my optical block from my RT3 unit in my 407 that no longer worked, and instead of going to Peugeot who would have asked for a phenomenal amount for the repair or even for a complete replacement, I found a site in Lyon that repairs all car radios. Since I was in the area, I just had to get a quote of 40 euros, then they informed me of the malfunction and the repair cost of 450 euros (expensive, but compared to Peugeot, it’s worth it) for replacing the optical block. Everything works... otherwise, you just need to send them the car radio by filling out the attached form on the site...

Hello, I previously had a monochrome RT3 in my Ulysse 2.2 HDI from 2003, the radio card was no longer working (like an unplugged antenna wire), so I bought a used MONOCHROME PEUGEOT RT3 with the RDS button at the bottom left, the lighting is also green. I replaced the Peugeot badge with mine and took my vehicle to have it checked (the vehicle's serial number must be entered for the BSI to recognize it, otherwise a beep sounds every 5 seconds and it reboots because the unit is considered unknown). Anyway, everything is back to normal.
Be careful not to replace a VAN RT3 with a CAN (orange lighting) as this could cause issues.
If you want to replace a monochrome model with a color one, the display will only work if you replace the monochrome screen with a color one with the exact connections... but it is possible!!!

Hello, the vehicle's serial number must be entered. From which vehicle does the used car radio come? Thank you.
