How to turn off standby mode on a Toshiba LCD?

Hello,

For Christmas, we gave my father an LCD TV. It's a Toshiba and the model number is: 37AV565DG. There is a power button on the front, but the problem is that it either turns the screen on or puts it to sleep. There are no other buttons like that on the rest of the screen. I would like to know how to completely turn it off without having to unplug it. I tried holding the button down for a long time, but it does nothing and the manual doesn't specify anything more than its function and sleep or power modes.

Hello

I bought an audio-video power strip on the BLEU CIEL D'EDF store website (around €27)
but before I got it, I had connected the television, the hi-fi system, and the Freebox to a power strip with a switch so that we could turn everything off at the same time.
