Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to play PS1 games on a Nintendo DS using an emulator, since the graphic quality seems to be the same.
So I am asking if it's possible, and if so, what do I need to have/buy/download?

It's nonsense. To emulate a console, you need at least 10 times more power; the DS has roughly the power of an N64/PS1 >> no emulator.
But we can adapt PS1 games for the DS (with the source, don't imagine being able to convert your games with a program/adapter!) That's why we are not close to having a PS3 emulator; even the best PCs are barely 2/3 times more powerful than the PS3.

It's just impossible to emulate a PS1 game on DS, however we could possibly port it, but that's really not up to us and Nintendo isn't going to port PS1 games, come on now o.o Otherwise, if you want a list of emulators on the Nintendo DS, go to this link: http://www.portabledev.com/pages/ds/nds-emulation.php: but for your brother, sorry, he is absolutely right and you are wrong, otherwise try to program the emulator yourself, we would have a good laugh >o<
