Hello everyone,
As a beginner in graphic design, I am currently working with Adobe CS3.
I am facing an issue with importing EPS files created in Photoshop.
Indeed, when I create an EPS file in Illustrator, importing that file into an InDesign document retains the transparency from the source file. No problem.
However, when I create a vectorized EPS file from Photoshop, the import into InDesign does not retain the transparency of the image or logo. Ouch problem!
I can't understand why?
Does anyone have a solution to suggest (other than saving as .tiff)?
Thank you in advance

Hi pastis31,
…there is almost no interest in importing .eps files into InDesign anymore. It handles .ai and .psd files very well… (these native files retain paths, layers, transparency, etc., etc.).
And for your information, the .eps files generated by Illustrator and Photoshop are not of the same nature (one is vector-oriented, the other is bitmap). But you can forget this info, unless you want to import a bitmap image with a clipping path into Xpress_5 or lower…

I thought that importing .eps or .tiff files was a mandatory requirement when creating Indesign files.
Thank you for the info!!!
See you.
For a long time (twenty-five years ago): .eps (for vector files) and .tiff (for raster images), I'm simplifying a bit, were the only formats that Xpress accepted (it was the only professional layout application).
Today, InDesign fully benefits from its interoperability with Photoshop and Illustrator (by the way, Xpress has been begrudgingly accepting .psd since version 6 and .ai since version 8).
Additionally, the box_.eps can be advantageously replaced by the box_.pdf…
(I'm referencing one of my posts)…
