Bonjour,

Avant, je pouvais faire une recherche sur internet directement dans la barre d'adresse. J'ai dû désactiver quelque chose sans le vouloir. Aujourd'hui si je saisis un mot pour rechercher,je n'obtiens que cette réponse :
http:///?%20j
Quelqu'un peut-il m'aider ?
Merci

Hello... or good evening!

This feature is only available, to my knowledge, with the Google toolbar or the Firefox browser.

To activate it in IE, follow these steps:

Click on

"Settings"

of the Google toolbar (it should be on the right side of the Google bar by default...)

Now click on

"Options"

And go to the tab

"Learn more"

Then check the box next to

"Enable name-based navigation feature in the address bar"

Confirm your choice by clicking

"Apply"

at the bottom of this window, then

"Ok"

The toolbar now has the feature you wanted.

Hope I was clear and precise; have a great day...

Me under IE 8, I can't find
"Settings"

in the Google toolbar (default to the right of the Google bar, I think...)

Click now on

"Options"

And go to the tab

"Learn more"

etc

However, when I type anything in the address bar, it's Voila search that opens and not Google. I would prefer Google, or even Bing, but not Voila.

If someone has a solution ^^

Hello Sylviane.

I have exactly the same issue today. I can no longer type what I want in the address bar without getting an error page titled "syntax error", and it puts in the address bar http:///?%20Cequej'it typed.

Have you found a solution? Can you share it with me?
Thank you in advance.

I'm really sorry, but I've tried so many random things that I'm unable to say what I've changed in the configuration.

I hope someone else will give you the solution.

I have the same problem, but I also have a beginning of an answer:

- type "about:config" in the address bar
- then go to the value keyword.URL (by double-clicking on it, for example)
- type the address you want to use for your searches

My problem is that I can't find the address to type to use the function (I'm lucky to have Google, which I find very handy)

Having had the same problem, my solution:

about:config

keyword.URL

right-click => reset

and replace google.com with google.fr

Hello!
I had the same problem and I solved it!

Type about:config and look for keyword.URL
Right-click on it => Reset

Close the tab, everything works fine now :D

See you!

With Firefox:
you type in the address bar (where you wrote this http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-1037443-recherche-a-partir-de-la-barre-d-adresse?Acces=1#ecrire at the top of your page) the words:

about:config

A window opens, you accept, and hundreds of lines organized alphabetically are displayed.
You search for keyword.url, right-click and select reset.

You close the tab and everything works.

If you have Internet Explorer... Well, install Firefox.

Hello, can you be more specific? Are you talking about auto-fill?

If that's what it's about, then do it like this:

In Internet Explorer, click on:

Tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete/check Websites

Thank you, I checked the settings:
tools/internet options/content/autocomplete/check website is OK
What I want to explain is that when I used to type, for example, stories
in the address bar, a list of story sites used to appear on the screen, and now if I do that I land on an error page or the page cannot be found.
