Did you try without entering anything at all?? If not, go check where you bought your PC and ask them ;).

For the documentation of Acer laptops:
http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/
For the 7720 to reset the BIOS password, the solution I successfully tested is the BIOS upgrade.
Remove the soldered battery (in the large compartment under the laptop - disconnect the cord and battery) for at least 1 hour, then re-solder, short-circuit a jumper (JoPEN1 near the RAM? of the battery? which does not exist?), use PQservice with CD creation provided you have the recovery partition and that the boot occurs and the 4-6 zeros... All these solutions do not work or are very risky.
I used the solution from a forum regarding the Insydeh20 BIOS and a USB key:
1- Copy the BIOS to the USB key and rename it ICL50HW.fd (here BIOS 1.45 of the Aspire 7720 to be found on the ACER site)
2- Properly disconnect all connected peripherals (USB, network cable, ...) as well as CDs and DVDs (here it’s on a USB key but it works also)
3- Shut down the laptop by pressing the power button for 5 seconds
4/5- Remove the battery then unplug the power supply from the laptop
6- Insert the USB key into a USB port (second from the bottom on the right side of the laptop for me)
7- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then release it
8- Hold the Fn + ESC keys while plugging in the power supply to the laptop while keeping the Fn + ESC keys pressed
9- Hold the Fn + ESC keys as well as the power button for 5 seconds then release them
10- The fan starts up and if the correct file is in the USB key (or the CD/DVD), it will start blinking then stays continuously on and finally turns off (15 seconds max for me)
11- The fan stops - disconnect the power supply then the USB key.
12- Connect the power supply then press the power button
13- The BIOS is updated and the password is no longer there...
Apparently, this method applies to several laptop BIOS... (see the various links below)

Have you tried 0000? Because it's usually the default password.

Hello,
I have the same issue as you; I bought this laptop on January 9, 2009, and I only had time to turn it on to discover Windows Vista. A window then opened asking me if I wanted to protect the BIOS with a password, which I did, but when I restarted my PC, I got the message 'invalid password'. However, I am convinced that I entered the correct password since it was confirmed by a second entry. I also re-entered it in QWERTY, but it still doesn’t work. I have been spending my time on the phone with Acer customer service, where I am faced with people who are completely clueless and only want one thing: for me to send the laptop back so they can reformat it for the modest sum of 140 euros! I cry scandal. I bought this PC at Auchan Le Pontet, but they do not handle the warranty; I have to deal with Acer. One thing is for sure, do not buy this brand because what I should have done beforehand is check the computer forums, and I would have found out that Acer is really not a recommendable brand!
I don't know if you managed to solve it or if anyone else has experienced the same story as me, but I am open to any information on this subject.-

Hello everyone!!!
I have exactly the same problem as you Rose with my Acer Aspire 7720. I am also convinced that I entered the correct password (I write everything down, I'm not backing down!!!) in the BIOS. But Acer insists on making me feel like an idiot by assuring me that I must have made a mistake with the password and therefore is willing to repair it only out of warranty. I have already given a deposit of 60 euros and I’m worried about what comes next... I’m crying scandal! Rose, can you keep me updated on your adventures with Acer? Thank you and everyone for any information you can provide on this matter. Hang in there ;-) Ben.- In fact, I took my PC to a young man that my company employed, and he opened it and caused a "short circuit"; in fact, he discharged the battery. Be careful, it's not the one found in the hard drive (as I have often read on forums, this one is soldered and untouchable) but the one located under the part where the fan is. Of course, you need to remove the battery and the power supply. My advice is to go see your local repairman! It cost me 30 euros, and most importantly, it didn't line Acer's pockets!
Good luck to you.

Hello,
I also just bought an ACER laptop and I have the same problem as Rose, I entered a password as requested and .... I can no longer use this damn computer. I bought it at Leclerc, which has instructions to put the customer in touch with Acer, and Acer says "send 110 € (because they mention a user error) and we'll see afterwards!".
But from what I read, I'm not the only one, conclusion it's not a user error but a bug at Acer.
I took the phone number of the electronics department manager at Leclerc and tomorrow I will explain my issue to him.
Otherwise, I found an address where they give an idea but be careful, as it could void the warranty on the computer. Here it is. Keep me updated! See you soon.

Did you think that maybe the keyboard was set to American during the setup of your password? Try that, it’s already one test done. If not, call Acer support (reset the BIOS, ask them how to do it).

So search the internet for documentation on how to reset the BIOS. As you just said, since it's no longer under warranty, you won't regret it if you open it anyway. Normally, you have to remove the battery, open your PC, and on the motherboard, you'll find a battery (like the one in a watch). You remove the battery and you should press the power button on the PC. Leave the PC aside for a moment, and later in the day (or night) you put everything back together. This is to erase all the BIOS settings.
However, if it's not the BIOS password that's preventing you from starting, then don't do this procedure. -
If you can't remove the stack (which is possible), there must be a Knight not far from the stack and you need to perform the maneuver by removing the Knight instead of the stack. As for the rest, I can't help you more than that, to get more details look well on the internet but...

Hello
here is the bottom line, I called Acer who was asking me for 140 euros!!! I contacted the repairer in my area, and he fixed it for the modest sum of 14 euros, find the mistake!!!! He unsoldered the BIOS battery and everything works perfectly. So for Acer, avoid putting a BIOS password (not reliable)
thank you

Hello everyone,
I have an Acer 7720 myself since August 2008 and I have had no issues with the password. However, I entered my digits twice using the numeric keypad instead of typing them with the keyboard as I had entered my code, and twice access was denied. Please be very careful when typing your code that your keyboard is not in uppercase because if you type in lowercase after, it won't recognize your code.
There you go, I hope this information has helped you, good luck to everyone and have a great end of the day. -
Hello everyone
it works for some and not for others, is it due to the computer or the person using it?
this is another question as some would say, so good luck to everyone in solving your problems. -
No problem guys, the keyboard is inverted, it's in QWERTY so take into account the letters in reverse.
-
The current original BIOS code is "admin", regardless of whether it is in uppercase or lowercase. To remove it, you need to flash the BIOS, but I'm not sure how to do that. There are different methods that could void the warranty of the PC or not.

Same problem as all of you, I entered the number 0 six times as my password to avoid hassle, and it won't accept it, it tells me my password is invalid!!!!!
So apparently if I have to desolder the battery, it means there is no jumper!
Could a technician confirm this? -
Indeed, removing the battery works; I also have the same issue as most people with the eRecovery system to reset the system to default.
Finding the word is a tough journey. -
I had the same problem with the Acer Aspire 7720. I have a password on BIOS startup and I removed the cache where the processor and fan are located. Near the fan, there is a soldered battery on the motherboard. You need to desolder it and wait for 3 minutes, then resolder the battery and start the laptop. It will start up without issues and without asking for the BIOS password. This resets the BIOS to zero. I did this and it worked. Before proceeding with this manipulation, you need to unplug the power supply from the PC and remove the laptop battery to avoid short circuits. Good luck!

Hello,
I confirm, simply desoldering and then resoldering after a waiting period will cancel this password question.
I hesitated to do it, but I'm not disappointed that I dared.
A big thank you for this tip.
