CAPS LOCK TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITSELF

Hello,

On my EEEPC 901, a window "CAPS LOCK ON" or "CAPS LOCK OFF" appears randomly in the bottom right, causing caps to unlock or lock randomly. You can imagine how hard it was to write this message in lowercase!!! Thanks for your help.

    I solved my problem!

I noticed, while lifting the keyboard to clean it (again), that the kind of tape underneath (intended to improve the fixation?) is positioned directly under the Caps Lock key. Since the keyboard is very thin and key presses are sensitive, I wondered if this tape was sticking more than it should. So I covered it with a thin plastic sheet cut to the right size and put the keyboard back in place.
    Everything is OK now.

    If it helps someone...

    Good evening maxoan.
    1. Does this problem persist
    - if you click (one time) on your ShiftLock key?
    - if you keep your ShiftLock key held down?
    2. Do the recommended keyboard maintenance again plus a quick vacuum and see if it persists.

If it’s not hardware, it might be an issue with your keyboard driver.
In that case, see if you want/can disable the Caps Lock function.

    Kind regards

I have the same issue and I don’t have a solution. I reinstalled the drivers but no difference... I took the keyboard out and cleaned it properly, but no change either.

    Did someone have another idea?

Me too, I own the same EEE PC
Even more weird, actually it doesn’t seem to come from the keyboard: to fix the problem, you just need to unplug the power plug. I can’t explain it, but that’s where I am!
