White touchscreen, but reacting to the stylus! HELP
Hello,
Since a nice fall on Christmas Eve, the bottom touchscreen of my daughter's DS stays white, however it reacts to the stylus (we can see this on the top screen).
In your opinion, is it a case of a broken screen or simply disconnected cables or something else?
Thank you for your help,
Maud

Hello,
Yes, we solved the problem at a low cost.
After searching online, we realized that the touchscreen was fine, but it was the bottom LCD screen (which is under the touchscreen) that was dead.
We bought a bottom LCD screen on eBay, which came with the special Nintendo screwdriver (http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280298308899). We received it very quickly (I just checked, currently the seller does not have any for sale, but I communicated a lot with him, you just need to contact him, he probably still has some).
Then we searched for a demo to disassemble the DS Lite and change the screen, we found this:
http://www.consolescenter.com/dossiers_et_tests/20/Tuto_Demonter_sa_Nintendo_DS_Lite.html (a complete demo, in English but in video)
and also: http://nds.jpn.org/ndslr.htm (photo explanations).
We are not professionals at all, but with this, we succeeded! We took our time!
One last piece of advice, to separate the LCD screen from the touchscreen, you just need a cutter to cut along the edges of the double-sided tape. We didn't need to put another one back, it was still sticky enough.
Also, think about having a small box to keep all the screws and other items during disassembly.
Don't get frustrated, and be methodical.
Good luck,
Maud- Hello,
Thank you for this information, I think I have the same issue with the bottom screen of my son's DS. He bit the DS near the screen and now it is white. On the side of the bite, a black line appears. I believe that the touchscreen still works since the DS responds to the stylus's inputs.
Your information is very helpful, and on eBay, I've seen that you can find the bottom screen alone for less than €10, and the bottom screen + touchscreen for less than €20. Moreover, the special DS screwdriver is often included for free.
Have a good day.

Hello,
I replaced the touchscreen of my DS Lite, which was faulty, with a new one, and after reassembling the console, the touchscreen works properly and reacts to the stylus, but the lower screen remains white. Before the change, the lower screen was still somewhat functional (meaning that the colors occasionally turned a bit gray, but quite rarely). I was wondering if the lower screen (the LCD) might have "broken" during the replacement of the touchscreen.
Best regards,
Alex
