Excel 2003 : (e) becomes € in my cells

Solved
Hello,
in Excel 2003, when I put (e) to mark the feminine form of a past participle, it changes to €.

For example,

Créé(e) becomes Créé€

How can I prevent this?

    Hello,

go to 'tools / options... / spelling / autocorrect options...'
Uncheck ' autocorrect while typing' or delete the line (e) €

    5. Apart from annoying Excel users, what are all these automatic corrections for in general and this one in particular? Don’t tell me it’s to save time, because not only is that false, but it’s the exact opposite.

  2. Hi, the cells are in standard format. When I choose "text", some cells show #### characters.
    1. Hello everyone,

A brief explanation for the transformation of (e) into €: in the early days of the euro, many keyboards did not have the "€" character. Users would therefore enter "(e)" instead, which Excel or Word would then convert into "€".
