On a a classic France Télécom line: 48 volts direct current and the ringing signal is 80 volts alternating current. On an ADSL line, there are frequencies, but I don't know the value which should be close to 0.

Where does this voltage come from? 48V would be more appropriate. As for the ADSL voltages of a dozen volts at frequencies, they are not measurable with a standard multimeter.
