Excel tab in the bottom left corner disappeared

Tools/Options on the View tab and check the Workbook tabs

Tools/Options on the General tab Number of sheets per new workbook displays 3

And to check, go to file/new and let us know how many sheets it generates

Are you sure they really exist?
Press Alt+F11 and check if they exist in your workbook project (on the left).

With the link I gave you, attach an example of the file we see on our machines; to do this, click on the link, browse/select the file you want to attach, allow access, and copy the generated link at the top of your sheet into your next post.
Try a screenshot again,
Open Word and minimize it in the taskbar, open an Excel workbook and press Print Screen, click on Word in your taskbar and Edit/Paste, save it and attach the file to a post using the same procedure as above.

Problem solved, I went to the Microsoft Office site, updated Excel 2003, and fixed the errors. Everything is back in order, my workbooks are all there.

Also check (maybe) for hiding sheets with:
- Format / Sheet: dropdown menu where you can show or hide sheets in a workbook.

If Marin's ghost tab has been hidden, select: show, it should reappear.

What does "I can't have the tabs (3 or 12)" mean?

Do you have tabs displayed at the bottom of the file you open (with names)?
Or are there none, meaning there is only the horizontal scroll bar?
