I bought a Philips 7603 H TV with a USB port, but I can't read the videos or movies in DivX from my USB stick
What should I do
I was told to rename the file? But what should I rename it to? Do I need to update my new TV

It works with Philips TVs, but you have to say that in reality you need to cheat.

First, convert your MPEG 1 or 2 films, nothing more. For that, use VLC Converter or DivX Converter (although it takes longer).

Rename your film to "SuperShopDemo" and do not add an extension. When you plug your USB stick into your TV, it indicates that it detects a USB device and then plays your film. It works for films of 1h30 without any problem. But as another member said, make sure your USB stick is empty. Nothing else but the film. A small downside, though, even if this service is practical and very eco-friendly and economical (no more CDs to buy or throw away), the TV does not have a player, so there is no pause or rewind button...

Hello everyone!

I just bought a 107cm Philips LCD screen as well as a 4GB USB stick, but I put the movie on it and reinserted the stick into my TV USB port, and it doesn't work! The movie doesn't show up on my TV screen!
So I'd like to get some of your methods (Without having to buy any devices, please!!) I've looked at several forums, but this one seemed good; I especially followed the instructions of POCPOC76, I converted my movie using a site, but when I finished converting my movie and watched it, it was only 27 minutes long, so I don't find that very normal! What do you think??
I hope to get your methods as soon as possible, please!!

hi actually the model is 42pfl5604h/12 and not the 42PFL5624H/12  to respond to cleim62, 1. the movies are in divx format, but maybe other formats work, I haven't tried yet. 2. they last between 1h30 and 2h. 3. well I plugged my USB stick into the PC and did a copy/paste of the movie onto the stick... then you plug the stick into the TV and that's it :-)

Oh alright! I'll give it a try... My movies were in AVI format and I converted them to: MPEG2 (doesn't work :s) MP4 (doesn't work either) I converted them using the website "FREE DVD CONVERTER". Thanks Bombomare I'll let you know what happens when I try your method!

Now, I wonder if it's not the same problem as with the Philips DVD/DIVX players. Let me explain, I don't know about you, but I've never bought a Philips or Sony DIVX player because they were supposedly DIVX players, but they hardly played any DIVX files. On the other hand, if you took a DIVX player from some "no-name" brand, it would play EVERYTHING. Well, at the same time, it works at my mother’s house, so there you go... Are there any differences between Philips TVs regarding video file playback???

Hello, I'm joining you because I have the Philips 42PFL5604H/12, so I'm not complaining because I connect my external hard drive (formatted in FAT32) directly to it and have no problem reading my AVI files. But since I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I would like to push the limits a bit further. I want to read HD videos via the USB port. According to the manufacturer's website, here are the formats the USB port can read:
- AVI Format:
• Video codec (MPEG4 SP) + Audio codec (MPEG Layer 2/3) + Extension (.avi)
• Video codec (MPEG4 ASP) + Audio codec (AC3) + Extension (.avi)

- MPEG Format:
• Video codec (MPEG1) + Audio codec (MPEG1 Layer 2) + Extension (.mpg)
• Video codec (MPEG2) + Audio codec (LPCM) + Extension (.mpeg)
• Video codec (MPEG2) + Audio codec (AC3) + Extension (.vob)

- MPEG4 Format:
• Video codec (MPEG4 AVC [H.264, L2-CIF]) + Audio codec (AAC-LC) + Extension (.mp4)
• Video codec (MPEG4 AVC [H.264, L4-HD]) + Audio codec (AAC-HE) + Extension (.mp4)
However, I don't have more information about the maximum file size, etc.
Unfortunately, I have tried converting to .mp4, AVI, MPEG (I also reduced the resolution to 720P), but nothing works. The codecs are indeed H264 and AAC with the mp4 extension, and just in case file size is a criterion, I've cut it into files of 200 MB maximum, but I still have no results. I don't know much about codecs, and I don't think I'm mistaken in saying that H264 is indeed an HD codec, unless it can be used differently. Anyway, all this to say that since you are currently looking into this subject, if you have more information than I do (if it's possible or not to watch an HD movie via USB on a Philips TV), it would be great to let me know. It would save me from buying a multimedia hard drive and dealing with all this!
Otherwise, just to quickly answer your questions, AVI is just a container and not a codec, so it all depends on what's inside. Personally, I have some AVIs that play without any issues and others that don't, depending on the codecs used. I think that's the case because, as I said earlier, I'm far from being a good advisor since I don’t know much!

After checking, the films that were read by the screen mentioned above were in AVI and not in DivX as I had said.
So apparently it would be a codec problem? Because the fact that you connect your hard drive doesn't change anything.

I also discovered that when I plug my USB stick into the USB port of my DVD player, it reads it; it also reads the movies on it, but when I click on the movies, it immediately goes back to the main screen of my DVD player, which seems strange to me (and knowing that my DVDs on the USB stick are complete when I watch them on my computer)
Do you have a solution to my problem?

Yes, I also have the same issue with certain movies, and it is indeed a codec problem because I managed to achieve what I mentioned earlier by re-encoding my HD movies to MP4 and 720p, and it works! I think you just need to use Super and set your movies to AVI, then use the MPEG2 codec and MP3 audio. In any case, it works for me, and for HD, I use Xilisoft HD Video Converter. I lower the resolution to 720p and use the HD H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video (*.mp4) profile. "It worked with a 200 MB video; I will retest with an 8 GB video and keep you updated because there may be a size limitation. As for the 700 MB videos, I’m confident it will work; just try it, and it should work. I hope I have helped you!

OK, it's good I understood the TV didn't recognize MP4 files over 2G, but now it's fine even in 1080p. I just had to re-encode my movie in MP4 with the H264 codec and MP3 audio. After that, I split my MP4 with Yamb (into 1.8G files) and it worked great (very fast too). I will be able to wait before buying an additional multimedia hard drive, and the splitting is hardly noticeable because the TV automatically moves to the next file; the transition happens very quickly, so it's not bothersome!

Hello,Just for your information, I bought the PHILIPS 37PFL564H/12 and the movies play from the USB stick to the TV without any changes or conversions.I haven't tried the HD films yet, but the seller had some reservations, so it's up to me to find a workaround.In any case, no issues with AVIs; just put them alone on the USB stick as mentioned above and no need to rename them.Good luck to everyone!

Hello, I own a Philips TV model 52pfl7404, and for video playback via the USB port, I have noticed the following: In Mpg4 ".avi", the file cannot exceed 2Go. In H264 ".mp4", the same applies. In Mpeg2 ".mpg", the file cannot exceed 4Go if the USB stick or hard drive is formatted in FAT 32. In the case of NTFS formatting, the file cannot exceed 2Go. Choppy videos in Mpg4 are mainly due to frame rate issues. Indeed, videos encoded at 23.976 frames/sec (NTSC standard) cause stuttering. To resolve this anomaly, the video needs to be re-encoded at 24.000 frames/sec or 25.000i/s. In fact, it is not necessary to re-encode the video, but to modify the frame rate directly in the file using VirtualDub. Here is the solution I found to my great surprise, as it is so simple and effective: FREEMAKE is the software that transcribes my MKV to MPEG without loss and works very well on my Philips LCD TV 32PFL5625H via a standard USB external drive. It goes to show that free software can be useful.... (However, be careful during installation, choose "custom" to avoid any unwanted programs.)
