Hello,
I was fed up with "free" protection software because they were slowing my system down too much. I bought a license for ESET Smart Security (firewall, antivirus, etc.). I also have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and System Mechanic from iolo technologies. All my software is genuine (no pirated or cracked stuff).
My problem: Upon restarting my system, whether due to an X scan that requests it or otherwise, the "ESET Smart Security" icon no longer appears in the taskbar! I contacted ESET support as well as the support for my other protection/prevention software, and none of them are aware of such an anomaly. I have performed several tests such as: installing/reinstalling ESET Smart Security, adding certain Malwarebytes alerts to exclusions, disabling the automation of iolo System Mechanic, etc. Nothing works! The icon always disappears from the taskbar after a restart. I queried my system and all the software is installed, loaded, and functioning properly. It may not be a big deal for some, but I like when everything works as it should.
Therefore, I am seeking help from someone more knowledgeable than me in the field of "computer bugs."
Best regards and looking forward to your response,
Mononc' Sly

Hello,
I think you may unfortunately have disabled its display?
Have you tried uninstalling NOD32, restarting, deleting all NOD32 folders, as well as cleaning the registry and reinstalling the latest version?

The best fight against viruses is not to delete them but to submit them.

same problem in 2013 on Windows 7
just uninstall ADOBE READER and restart and malwaresbytes reappears in the taskbar
otherwise the adobe flash player but it's really adobe software that's the cause
I look at my software list by date and the last adobe installed, I uninstall it and everything is fine upon restart

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue as you: sometimes when starting the PC, the Smart Security icon disappears from the notification area.
The only workaround is to click on "Eset Smart Security" in the start menu for the icon to reappear...
Apparently, this does not affect the antivirus's operation, as its processes are present in the task manager.
Mystery!
Do others have this issue?
Thanks and see you soon!
Alex
