black screen on iPhone !!!!! help! Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,
I have a huge problem with my iPhone... it was working perfectly and after a physics class, the screen went black! I can't turn it back on and can't turn off the phone, but when I connect it to the computer, it is recognized and can be synced!!

What should I do, please help me!!!!! (it's jailbroken and all that ^^)

Hi,I found the solution: my iPhone had the same problem, that is, the screen wouldn't turn on even though I knew it was working because I could feel it vibrating when I was getting calls. So the solution is to connect your iPhone to your computer, then hold the power button and the middle button at the same time for 10 seconds. This reboots it, and my screen came back!!! Yay!!! hello, I've had my iPhone 3G for a week, and it's not jailbroken. Suddenly, after a phone call, it went black. I'm sure I didn't overcharge it (in relation to the suggestion above). Have you found the solution? Like you, it is recognized by iTunes and syncs and everything, it even makes the sounds of incoming messages... I'm afraid I’ll lose all my data if I reset it... Just like that.. No need to connect it to a PC, just the 2 buttons reboot the iPhone... I didn't look too much into it when it happened to me the first time.. The solution for 90% of problems.. Reboot :p

I had the same issue, I went to Orange and the technician pressed the power button (on the top) and the return button (below the screen), the iPhone was reset and it worked again, and it didn't change anything in my contacts or anything else. He told me that I should completely turn off the iPhone every 3 to 4 days to avoid this kind of problem. I hope you have the same issue, otherwise good luck.

Indeed, this technique works, thank you!  Unfortunately, it doesn't prevent the issue from happening several times a day... I received my iPhone yesterday and it has already crashed 4 times... Today, I'm wondering if I should send it back to customer service for an exchange (considering that the iPhone 3GS is out of stock anyway!) or if I should keep my phone hoping that this problem won't happen again. Hi everyone, I just had a big scare with this black screen for the first time since I've had it for 4 months: So thanks for the tip because indeed the problem can be solved without even connecting the iPhone to the PC. As for the origin of this problem, it might be due to the fact that it has never been turned off, which is indeed the case for mine, and since I've used it a lot these last 3-4 days (to the point that I had to fully charge it every day), I think that if I had turned it off for a bit, it might not have happened because we could relate this to a kind of bug: Anyway, from now on I'll make sure to turn it off more often, and if the problem comes back at least now I know how to fix it, so a big thank you to gueux and a big sigh of relief for me!!!

Hello  I sometimes have a black screen too. It can be rebooted without the PC. You just need to hold down the power and central button for a few seconds and the Apple logo will appear.

I have the same problem except that for me it happened after disassembling/reassembling the iPhone (I had a screw that was wandering around inside). I reassembled it by properly connecting the 3 connectors that link the two faces, I pressed "hold+menu" simultaneously for 10 seconds, the screen darkened, I thought I would jump for joy, I waited to see the Apple logo appear and... NOTHING.

And it works! Since it makes sounds when I take screenshots or when I connect it to iTunes or the charger. When I connect it to iTunes, it is recognized and detected. I don't understand anything anymore...

Hello,  My iPhone just gave me this problem earlier, the screen is extremely dark, even though the brightness is all the way up, it’s almost impossible for me to see anything, it works fine except for the screen.  I tried rebooting it by pressing the home button and the top button simultaneously for 10 seconds, it restarts properly but the screen stays the same, ultra dark. I had sent a text message and then put it down, and when I picked it up again I thought it was off but no, it was still on. I’m waiting for the battery to drain so I can recharge it, but I don’t think that will work.  Does anyone have a solution that would help me avoid going to the Orange service center?
