Hello,

I have XP sp3 and AVAST as antivirus. I log in as administrator and cannot stop the Avast processes due to

"The operation could not be completed, access denied."

ashwebsv.exe
aswupdsv.exe
ashserv.exe (priority high, cannot be changed either)
ashmaisv.exe
ashdisp.exe

I want to remain in control of my PC whether there's an antivirus or not! Seriously! :-s

Thank you for your explanations and solutions; I don't understand and my searches have been fruitless.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Thank you spylk, I will try your solution.

Cesel, I do not have the mind of a despot, whether you like it or not, but I prefer to be protected without a straitjacket. A note to open-minded and critical thinkers for better solutions.

Another question, I've had Avast for a while and it's only since a new installation that I've noticed this phenomenon. Is it the same for you and is it normal in the latest versions? I await your confirmation!

++ thanks to all the zorossss in the forums

If you want to temporarily disable "Avast".

Not in the processes.

Right-click on the...@ blue (at the bottom right)...then choose the option to stop the protection.

Hello

Your antivirus protects you against external threats.

It is set up for that.

I wonder (apart from, of course, having the mind of a despot) why you want to disable this protection.

through the task manager.
