Hello,
I just bought Far Cry 2. I’m really excited because I’ve been waiting for this release for years, so I hurried to install the game.
The installation went normally. And then when I launched the game, a SECUROM message said: “expiry date expired.”
So I went back to the store and they told me that an internet connection is required to launch the game.
Those bastards had marked that on the back of the box, but in such tiny print..... What a scam!!!!!!
Of course, they won’t take the game back, and I’m stuck like an idiot with my nice new game at €55.
Anyway, if anyone has a solution to bypass the problem, that would be great.
Thanks :)

Known issue, it's a real piece of crap that doesn't penalize the pirate but the legitimate consumer! You can go back to the store and start making a scene, they should refund you to make you leave, just scream loud enough that they are scammers and everything, and everything ^^!

Here’s another problem with their damn security, it’s supposedly to deter pirates but actually, this kind of nonsense doesn't penalize pirates but rather the honest citizens who buy this game, so the solution to your problem is to download a crack to be able to play...

It’s the machine that chooses the gamer, and the gamer must know how to meet the expectations of their machine. -
Ok, I just brought my computer to my parents' place where there is internet.
I just hope it's only for the first activation and that I don't need to be connected every time!!! -
Well, that's cool, we only need the internet to activate it the first time. Now it's good :)

this game is excellent, do your research before buying, you just get screwed, that's it
-
Couldn’t you just get internet just to activate the game? With borrowed Wi-Fi or 3G+?
Otherwise, without that, I really don’t see how to do it unless there’s a patch. -
Unfortunately, it's assholes who think that disabling security for hackers is the same with Spore, which was one of the most pirated games, so I say that all this protection is useless. Unfortunately, there is no patch, and honestly, Far 2 isn't a super game...

Yes, Far Cry 2 is cracked; if you want, there are sites to download the cracks. I won’t say more to avoid any legal issues, but the SecuROM serves to penalize, not those who download.
As for me, I’m not in favor of downloading, but I find it disgusting that someone on minimum wage with €50 in their bank account finds it legitimate to download in such cases. Anyway, yes, there are cracks.
Fallout 3 is already cracked, just like Dead Space.

Yes, well, the minimum wage is what I'm close to and it really annoys me to see Far Cry 2 (crack included) available for download on a lot of sites. I thought about the scandal, but when I went back, there was a huge line behind me and I'm the reserved type, so I didn't do anything :(
Do you think the NOCD crack would help me get around my problem or does it only work with the cracked version? -
No, the NO-CD will allow you to do it, don’t worry about that. There’s a site that provides them directly, no need to download from P2P servers and the like...

This game and especially Ubisoft's support are terrible.

Hi everyone, same problem, but when I try to launch the game it asks me for the debug code ??????
I don't understand anything at all. -
Me too, it's exactly the same as you,
Indeed, at the end of the game installation, a window appears telling me "verification of the validity date failed," and they tell me to go to this address if the problem persists: https://www.ubisoft.com/fr-fr/game/far-cry/new-dawn
I went there and on this page it says:
"After downloading the ZIP file, extract (unzip) the FarCry2.exe file and copy it to your Far Cry 2 Bin folder
(C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2\bin) overwriting the existing executable file. After this, you should no longer have any issues playing Far Cry 2."
I don't understand what this means,
if someone has had the same problem and managed to install this game, please help me! ! !-
Hello everyone,
To respond to Just Cacao, well partially actually, the .exe file it asks you to download is a no-cd crack just like the one used to launch the cracked game; you just replace the original file with the one it gives you (if I understood correctly, it asks you to download it!?) so give it a try, you have nothing to lose.
It's surprising, nonetheless, that for a complete game purchased in a store, it requires this crack, but given the number of problems encountered with FC2, they might not have a choice.
I don't know if my intervention helped you much, but oh well.
For my part, I think this game is still worth checking out because in multiplayer, you kind of get that gameplay ease reminiscent of the old Half-Life and others... The map editor is also very well designed since you can create your map for multiplayer and off you go; the graphics are somewhat reduced, it's true, but honestly nothing dramatic. (Remember Doom, Duke Nukem, or more recently Battlefield v1)
Ubisoft certainly hasn't risen to the challenge, but I believe it's still a good game.
