Disassemble HP Pavilion 5462 laptop

Hello,
I'm trying to take apart my HP laptop to change the hard drive, after 2.5 years of use. No warranty left
after removing all visible screws (even under the screen), the top seems stuck, under the keyboard, at the center under the trackpad on/off button.
The rest comes apart.
Who can help me? (I live far from everything)
Thank you

Nonsense, the BIOS has never found itself on a hard drive!

It's simple, to change a drive:

    1) locate the drive
    2) remove the screws to access the drive
    3) once the drive is visible, and detach the various cables connecting the hard drive (if it's a tower). (Disk 3 1/2)
    4) In the case of a laptop: pay attention to the pins of the drive's integrated controller. (Disk 2.5p)
    5) replace the drive and perform the reverse operation.
    6) Before powering on the machine, place the factory reinstall disk in the CD drive / or in the case of an OS change, the original disk from the designer (Microsoft, Novell, RedHat...)
    7) Power on and follow the indications...
    8) Reinstall the software and peripherals (printers and others...)
    9) And finally restore personal files..

For safety, note down all steps performed.

To disassemble a HP laptop yourself, refer to the manufacturer’s maintenance guide (in English!) available on the Internet.

To find the guide corresponding to your machine, type in Google "Maintenance and service guide HP (+ your laptop model reference)".

And there you go, you can normally download a large PDF file, where the manufacturer provides all the instructions to disassemble your device.

      Good luck !!!

    look there

it's very simple but you have to know ;-))
On your model the bios is on the first invisible partition of your hard drive ......
I made the mistake of reformatting my DD on my pavilion and now I only have the basic bios without options
I'm looking for the solution because I have a PCI card problem but it's quite a long story

Hello Eric, Thank you very much for the URL of the "service manual" you sent me. But... this "service manual" unfortunately does not concern my Pavilion N5462 laptop model. For example, the speakers on my laptop are at the front and not beneath the screen. Do you know where to find the correct manual? Thanks again for your help. Regards, Pascal

        Hello
I came across this forum by accident and I also have a HP Pavillion N5462. I’m interested in dismantling it to change the HD and also for when it breaks down. The cited link doesn’t work. Is there another link to be able to dismantle it? Does anyone know the pinout of the connector for the docking station? Because I have one for XE3 and it’s not the same. In fact I’ll need the pinout of both to modify the docking station.
        Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Same problem on a Pavilion N5442 on which I need to replace the HDD.
Do I need to open it for this change?

    If yes, how?

If not, how do I do it??

    Thank you

    Hello,

for the manual of a PC, I found mine (maintenance guide with screw placements and detailed handling for the dv6000) by typing the URL:

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/

there the site doesn’t find the manual in question but suggests looking up the computer model in the list.

Good luck to everyone, I have the guide but anyway I think the motherboard of my dv6022ea is dead.....
