Question

Hello,   I have a question regarding small capitals. How do you type the first letter in a "normal" uppercase and then the following ones in small capitals? Thank you very much.

Hi!
I'm using Windows and the shortcut for small capitals is by default: Ctrl + Shift + K

On Mac it's: cmd + Shift + K

It's possible to create your own shortcuts in Word by clicking on "Tools/Customize"
In the window that opens, you should see "Keyboard" at the bottom right, which you click on.
Then, just find the command for which you want to create a keyboard shortcut, and then click in the "add new shortcut" box. You type the shortcut you want to set once, it appears on the left side of the window, and you confirm it.
However, be careful, several shortcuts are already assigned (for example: ctrl-c, etc.). I mostly use the Alt key for my Word shortcuts...

SO TO CREATE THIS STYLE, BY DEFAULT IN WORD, YOU NEED TO GO TO FORMAT / STYLE / NEW … GIVE THIS STYLE A DESCRIPTIVE NAME, THEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW CLICK ON THE "FORMAT" BUTTON AND THEN "FONT", AND CHECK THE "SMALL CAPS" BOX

IT IS THEN POSSIBLE to return at any time to the "normal" style by selecting the normal style from the menu bar

When writing with a style that sets the text to small caps, the first letter will be in normal uppercase simply by pressing the shift key.

A shortcut, I don't know, but there may be a solution as quick as the shortcut,
add the appropriate button to your menu bar.
To do this, go to the View menu / Toolbars / Customize Toolbars/Menus...
In the window that appears, click on the "Commands" tab, then in the left column on "Format," then in the right section scroll down the list to find the item "ABC Small Capitals" that you drag and drop into your toolbar wherever you want - You will then have an additional button in your toolbar that allows you to switch from one mode to another instantly.

You first need to "activate" small caps by pressing ctrl+shift+k (or right-click > font > check "small caps"), then type as usual. To create a real "capital" letter, you just need to use the shift key like you would in normal text.

Just go to the Format menu, Font. If Uppercase is checked, uncheck it and then click on the Default button.
