Hello,
I am currently working on a relatively important thesis (about thirty pages long) and when I try to open and edit it, I am unable to do so.
I place the cursor in the text, most of the options in the menu at the top become greyed out, and I cannot delete or add any characters in the text. The only place where I can edit is in the headers and footers. Changing the editing mode of the document and reverting to the previous setting does not change the problem at all.
I have version 2.4 and Windows Vista. I cannot download version 2.4.1 of Open Office.
Thank you in advance for paying attention to my problem; I really need help!

hi
version 2.4.1 won't fix your issue, you simply need to save your OOo document under a different name for example, which will give you full rights:
file/save as...
and that's it.
have a nice day
