pink screen with Epson EMP71 projector

Question

Hello,

I have an Epson EMP71 video projector, and when I connect it via VGA to my PC, the projected image is all pink and cut off on the sides, making everything unreadable...
I tried connecting my laptop and changing the VGA cable, but nothing works; I'm hesitating to order another lamp if the issue doesn't come from that.

Do you have any ideas?

Hello,

before recommending a lamp costing over 200 euros, I suggest you take a closer look.

Try plugging something (like a console or a media player) into the composite video input of your projector or the connectors with the yellow, white, and red buttons (I can't remember what it's called).

If the screen is still pink, then the issue is not with your VGA input but with your projector (so it could be the bulb).

Also, how long have you had it? How many hours has the bulb been used? Has it worked before?

yeah, it was actually working very well before without any issues, but you're right, I haven't tested it in video, only in VGA.

Anyway, if it were the lamp, I don't think it would work at all.
Your problem seems more like a faulty connection (either the VGA cable or the input/output). Knowing that you've tried several cables and on two different PCs, I’m afraid it’s your VGA input on your projector that’s faulty :s

Anyway, keep me updated once you've tested another source.

Yeah, that must be it. I plugged a tape recorder into it and there's no problem, so I'm going to have to open it up to take a look...

In a sense, it's not your bulb, so that's already something!

Good luck, it's always frustrating when an object of that value fails. However, before taking it apart, make sure you have tried different VGA cables from different sources (at least 2 PCs, you know), also blow a little on your VGA input on your projector, you never know, it might just be dust messing with the signal!

We have the same issue with our video projector connected via VGA to our laptop; the image is yellow, and when we unplug it, the lamp is white. We're going to test it with another coaxial cable...
