Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to ask a question because it seems that you’re familiar with the concept of catalogues in Insitu. I’m looking for kitchen catalogues for this software; I saw on their website that they manage a large number of kitchen designer catalogues. Could you let me know where I can find them? Thanks in advance.

See you!

Such a late reply to say that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that's an effective forum... silence would have been wiser and less degrading for the author of this superb response!!!!

The catalogs are paid. :) There's a subscription.

GO TO THE KITCHENDRAW WEBSITE AND DOWNLOAD THE DOCUMENTS YOU NEED. KITCHENDRAW OPERATES UNDER INSITU, THE DATA IS THE SAME AND YOU WILL FIND HOW TO CREATE A CATALOG? USE MOBISCRIPT ETC..

GOOD LUCK

Hi vovi, I think I can help you because I also use Insitu 5.5 and I have ready catalogs to inspire you, but first I would like to know why you need to learn how to create catalogs with Insitu, because if you're a salesperson you don't need that, you just need to know how to use the existing catalogs, and then Insitu can be used to create different objects: desks, kitchens, bathrooms, IT components, electrical components... and many others, so I need to know exactly what you're looking for ;-)

Hi Tito
sorry for not getting back to you sooner but work work ^^
I am indeed a reseller (in furniture) but the problem is that none of our suppliers work with Insitu so there's no catalog and I would really like to create them to save time
I would also like to create a decor catalog (PC, canvas...) because for now the one provided by Insitu is really not great
so if you could enlighten me on how to make a new catalog ^^
thanks in advance

oh it was probably just a guy trying to see if you wanted to hack his software, for that use kitchen draw you can find it with emule and it’s the same as insitu.

As for designing a catalog, you need to use mobiscript, you just have to request the manual from transtechnologie, I did it and I have it, but I’ve never created a catalog, too much time wasted or not enough time to waste.

Instead, check if your suppliers are in the database of another software designer like winner from compusoft which now has a rental version not much more expensive than official insitu whose catalogs are full of mistakes.

Thank you very much for your response, subsub.
I found the manual on kitchendraw.
I managed to create a small personal catalog. The only small point I still need to understand in mobiscript is how "families," "family finish types," and "family finishes" work in order to make a real catalog with color selection. But I think I won't be able to figure it out on my own, hehehe.
No worries, no color choices.
Thanks again! ++

Take the Winner software from Compusoft. They have all the catalogs and, above all, it works well.

Hello, actually I'm going to the site kitchendraw.com, I download the catalog I want and then it asks me to save the file. However, I can't save it in CATALOGS. I think that's why I can't open it. So I try the "open with" option, but again I can't find the software. So, of course, the catalog doesn't appear in kitchendraw. It's frustrating because I have kitchen plans to do with this catalog!

If you manage to download it from somewhere other than CATALOGS, there’s no problem; you just need to copy and paste it into the directory.
The files to copy and paste are .CAT files.
Copy and paste the created subdirectory.
It’s normal that you can’t open them by using "open with"; that doesn’t work.
If you still can’t see them when opening Kitchen or when trying to copy and paste it into the directory, it’s possible they might be write-protected, and I can’t do anything to help you with that.

Hi there,

I am a Mobiscript technician, and I have a very good mastery of Insitu + Mobiscript. I can help you if you want with the creation of a complete catalog, including the finishes of the families ;). Just let me know what exactly your problem is.

Good luck!

Hi MOBI_TECH
The problem I'm encountering is that I can't create a finish type for a family
I'll tell you what I'm doing to create a family. I must be forgetting to do something

I go to the families tab and click on add
in code I put "01"
in name "colorie siège"
I don't check any boxes in the following tabs

then I go to the family finish types entity
in the family tab I have "colorie siege" that I just created
and here's where I'm stuck, it's in the "Name" tab, it's a dropdown and it's empty, I can't select anything
and I don't change anything in the following tabs

I looked in existing catalogs that I can open to know how to fill the dropdown but I can't find anything. These catalogs have items in Name but I have no idea where they come from
do we need to create a model before we can create a family

since I can't choose anything in "Name" I go to the Family finishes entity
in the family tab I still have "colorie siege" as expected
in the "type" tab I have 0 non-modifiable I assume the 0 will turn into colorie once I manage to create it
in "Code" I put the code "BL" (example)
in "Name" I put example blue
then again one more place where I'm stuck, the following tabs. Normally we should choose the colors to assign but I have nothing in the dropdowns

I hope I explained my problem well
thank you in advance

Mr Insitu

Letting go of Winner is full of bugs; it works one time out of two, while I've never had any problems with Insitu.
It's a bit complicated to create catalogs with Mobiscript; pricing is easy, but if we want them to appear graphically, the codes are not easy to master.
Otherwise, Insitu has a great technical support team that helps me do a lot of things ^^

Winner has a few bugs from time to time, it's true, but for a merchant, it has a necessary asset: reactivity. The bugs don't last forever; new versions and updates are frequent. Suppliers' catalogs are updated quickly, and if you're working with foreign suppliers, know that Winner is international unlike our little national software, which struggles with foreign suppliers (and even with local ones). That's what made me switch software, and believe me, it's because I've seen both in action that I can be this affirmative.
For me, there's no contest: it's Winner and rather twice than once.
Just a little thing: if you do a virtual tour of a kitchen with a client, there's a silly thing with Winner: the walls between the observer and the object disappear. It's nicer than having to erase or hide the walls every time.
Another thing, I was working with two suppliers, and the problems I encountered with their catalogs were very rarely corrected. Moreover, I requested a catalog from a third foreign supplier for testing, which was full of visual errors and was already over a year old, which means either they haven't sold it to anyone, in which case nobody could see the errors, or worse, the errors are not being corrected, or another possibility is that the people working with it are clueless since the design errors causing collisions, visual errors, and disappearing faces, not to mention the worst for a seller: pricing and option valuation errors.
A little info: when you call the technical support and ask them why certain faces disappear, they tell you it's because you've poorly designed the scene and that some objects must overlap. Logical, since instead of measuring 2m, the objects measure 2.01m, and an auto linear fits on top at the correct height of 2m, bam, collision with the object of the wrong size. As a result, when you show your creation to the client, oh look, there's a door missing there, ohhh why can we see inside the furniture, umm is it normal how we can see the wall instead of the oven...????
Thanks, I've had enough, and I am satisfied with the change even though Winner is not perfect.

winner is slow, difficult to use, and expensive. It feels like old patched-up software. When I discovered insitu, I immediately adopted it. The customer service is friendly and responsive.

a software never works alone.
Such a statement can only be gratuitous without any other reference, e.g.: type and version date - configuration used...

It rather smells like a disloyal competitor trying to spread false information...

not very correct behavior and certainly not the place to write this kind of thing!!

You're right, Winner is a bit slow, but surely on your machine change your setup and you'll see that it's not that bad compared to the results.
Otherwise, dear, I don't find it either, I pay around €250 per month and I use it as I want, for as long as I want, and on whatever machine I want.
With €300 for 100 hours, it's not exactly cheap for Insitu either.
Not easy to use Winner, are you joking? I got it, never had any training, never actually followed any training, while Compusoft practically forces you to take one.
I do indeed miss a few small things to be more efficient, but the day I have time to waste, I'll take a training session, and when I'm stuck, hop hop hop, the hotline solves the problem in 2 minutes.
The only thing I preferred in Insitu was the wheel management for zooming, a big gap in Winner, or at least that's what I believe.

As for the comment, it smells like old patched software, that's exactly the thought I had while talking to the Compusoft people 2 years before buying it. Indeed, back then, the software didn't have its own 3D rendering; they used a public domain software for 3D renderings, a very good but very slow one called POV Raytracer, which I was already using on Amiga to create real synthetic images, and I found it disgusting that they used something from the public domain and sold software that just sent a script to a public domain software.
But rest assured, that's no longer the case today and it's probably because of that that the change suits me well.

Hi everyone, so for the winner knob, it has been included for two months in the new update, as for the rest I don't know because I'm a beginner...

Hello everyone. Instructive post but it didn't satisfy me. Let me explain: I am looking for a good program of this kind to design kitchens as a professional, and unfortunately, I can't meet Swiss standards (base at 100mm...) on Kitchendraw. I am considering Sketchup Pro to have also dimensioned floor plans and more freedom. Can anyone advise me? Thank you in advance.

Hello, on Winner you can switch to a 100mm base whenever you want.
