Brother toner to change

Hello
The toner warning light is flashing on my Brother HL-5250DN printer; the scam is that it is not empty because the difference in weight between an empty and a full one allows me to certify that. The printer is stuck because the toner is considered empty; how can it tell the difference between an old cartridge that is not empty and a full one? I have an old cartridge with which I had the same problem; I emptied it and found that I collected 80g of black powder, knowing that a full cartridge contains 150g of powder.
Thank you in advance

There is a solution ...
You need to manually reset the toner counter
FOR HL5250DN
- Open the front cover
- Remove the toner/drum assembly
- Press 2 times on "GO"
- Reinsert the toner/drum assembly
- Press 2 times on "GO"
- Close the front cover
For HL5150DN
- Open the front cover
- Remove the toner/drum assembly
- Press 1 time on "GO"
- Reinsert the toner/drum assembly
- Press 1 time on "GO"
- Close the front cover
This procedure has only been tested with BROTHER consumables
and comes from the documentation provided with the consumables.

"This planned obsolescence is really a pain."
It would be better to say "This planned obsolescence is really a LEGEND, a myth, a fantasy of the ignorant. A huge load of crap invented by big losers to justify their incompetence and excuse their inability to solve a malfunction they can't explain. And they don't really intend to fix it unless it takes them only two microseconds away from their coffee break of big lazy asses."
And there, we would be closer to reality than ever.
Shame on those who believe in the conspiracy, in the manufacturers' conspiracy to make them change printers or cars!!!!!

Planned obsolescence is nothing but an urban legend or a vague concept; it's real and happens every day: we should stop treating people like fools!
Moreover, with ridiculous aggression
A lived example, among many others:
After less than 2000 copies - just for info, 1 toner = max 1500 pages -, and the exclusive use of Brother consumables - no excuses for incompatibility - my printer HL-2035 no longer works
The brand does not repair outside the warranty, not even a quote
The service provider, on the other hand, charges nearly the price of two new printers for a simple diagnosis
This situation illustrates VERY precisely the definition of planned obsolescence = techniques aimed at reducing the lifespan/usage of a product to increase its replacement rate
Before selling consumables, maybe we should think about making repairs accessible
When you're able to sell a printer for €100 and charge €200 for a repair, there's a problem
Epilogue: yet another brand that promotes disposability.

Hello
The brothers 5250DN are a bit temperamental
1-They have a hard time accepting generic toners (like Armor)
2-Once a toner has been installed in a 5250, a punch marks the toner, and if we remove it (or put in another one already used in another 5250), the printer sees it as an used cartridge, which is very practical when we need to remove the toner to clear a jam.

Thank you for reading the charter (above the forum list). Please mark your topics as resolved.

Hello
Thank you for the response, but it was not about generic ones; if it is enough to remove it due to jamming, then that is the case, especially since the separation of the toner from its cartridge was justified due to excessive powder. Now, if I do not remove the toner from its housing and reinject the remaining powder from the old one, it should consume this and the problem will not occur again.
Best regards

On certain BROTHER laser models (2030 / 2040), when you install a new toner, there is a kind of gear with a white tab that will trigger a sensor to indicate to the printer that a new toner has been installed. The sensor unclips.
To make it work again, you need to remove the left cover (3 screws) of the toner and put the gear back in its initial position.
You can also cheat with the optical sensor that "checks" the ink level
a little post-it and voilà.... you easily gain 200 to 300 pages. :)

I confirm that covering the transparent side holes of a toner works perfectly on a Brother HL-5340D printer as well. It is the only way to use the toner until the end of its supply...
Although the post is quite old, I confirm that, having just done it, sticking a sticker on each side opening of a color toner cartridge eliminates the "EMPTY CYAN TONER" issue... for example. None of the reset codes worked, nor did the keyboard sequences, and the drivers no longer allow us to reset the ink levels, yet the cartridges are 60% full.
Thanks to Matthieu and the others who helped me.
Please do not spread the word about this as the manufacturer might find a workaround.

How to reset toner warning "Toner Life End" For the toner life reset menu:
1 Open the front cover of the printer
2 press and hold the cancel button
3 press the reprint button while still holding cancel
here is the reset menu - go to the appropriate cartridge on
- the menu and reset it and you're done!
FYI... Pressing the "Go" button and the up arrow gives you the parts life reset menu (drum, laser, fuser, etc.)

Hello,
Hoping this works, if you have any other questions regarding this model, don't hesitate, I've done quite a bit of support on it, they're temperamental machines ^^
Oops, I just realized something I said incorrectly
"The printer sees a used cartridge and doesn’t want to start again, considering the cartridge as used"
But that was from last year, maybe they have changed the internal program of the printer,
Good luck anyway

Same for me with a HL-2140, a little post-it on the toner eyelet and there you go, 300 more pages! Brother makes you throw away the toners quickly, they are not very eco-friendly!
I had a similar problem with a so-called "starter" toner; I didn't know that existed.
According to a technician (from www.inkstore.fr, thanks again), this type of toner cannot be reused or refilled because the detection system, the white plastic ring on the side that normally spins, is welded to the toner unit.
The toner delivered with the printer contains practically nothing and cannot be recycled... long live ecology.

To restore the default "stop mode" settings, press GO seven times (all indicators blink once)
