If you want to record a program, things get a bit more complicated since there is no SCART socket. The various tests we conducted give good results, but depending on the equipment they require several connectors not supplied, such as a SCART plug (output) with an RCA adapter; the one included in the bundle is only in input mode.
Maybe that could be the solution to our problems... -
Hi!
I have an NRX 640 ..
the problem with connections on Scarts is that you need 2 "circuits". Because on a single Scart circuit you ask the NRX to display its menu on the TV, and at the same time to record what’s on TV: that is, its menu!
The screen goes blue or even white .........(the video equivalent of the Larsen effect ...)
So that everything works at the same time, the NRX output must be alone on one TV Scart.
And tap off the video input of the nxr onto the decoder, VCR, DVD etc .......
we will therefore pass the TV with the remote control, for example on AV2 to see the NRX menu, while it records what is on AV1 .
Ideally, using the NRX HDMI output if the TV is equipped with it .
I hope I’ve been clear that this will help you ...
Otherwise: I opened a topic in Networks .. If you have the solution ...

Hello,
After searching and calling Memup technical support I have solved several problems (for info I have a nrx 1.5 To bought on 23/12/09):
- First you understood with the connections that in order to record you must buy a SCART adapter with the AV OUT position on the VCR and connect the RCA cable to the AV IN socket of the Memup nrx hard drive. To read you need a second RCA cable connected to the AV OUT of the hard drive linked to the TV or another connected device.
- Regarding the time shift (live control) function, which is completely illogical, in the Rec configuration menu, you must permanently set timeshift to disabled, and there when you watch the image sent by the TV in the Recording section in the menu, miracle when you press the time shift button it pauses!
- Another problem to use the Playlist from the menu, you must go to your music and press on each track with the remote using the Select and then Confirm buttons, and that sends them to the Playlist!
- You can access the network shared files from the multimedia hard drive with a TV screen, but impossible (at least I didn’t succeed) for the PC to recognize the hard drive. I managed to view my shared folders from the hard drive only by configuring an automatically obtained IP address (in Network Connections, right-click on the network used to connect the hard drive, Properties, double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), check Obtain an IP address automatically).
Here is what Memup sent me by email for network connection:
"For the network connection you must first configure:
On the Computer side:
1 - Share and security settings
2 - Use the same IP address range (e.g., 192.168.1.9) and the same subnet mask
The 'Share name' must be fewer than 12 characters.
3 - Enable the Guest user.
4 - The username of your computer must be accompanied by a password
5 - Specify your IP address and the subnet mask.
6 - Disable the Internet Connection Firewall option
On the Mediadisk side:
1 - Configure the IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.9)
Use the same IP address range and the same subnet mask
2 - Save your computer’s username and password."
- To read .MKV, H.264, .WMV, .MOV files you must connect the Transcode software over network, place the files to be recalculated in a Shared folder with the PC on the network, start the server on the PC and read the shared file on the multimedia hard drive.
- To install firmware from the Memup site:
Copy the firmware onto a USB key, plug it into the multimedia hard drive, keep your finger pressed on the power button, then power the device on while keeping your finger pressed on power for several seconds.
- Regarding the hard drive formatting, I went directly through the device, and wanting to partition the drive, it crashed at every startup, but after updating the firmware no problem. I partitioned the hard drive 50% FAT32 (necessary to be able to record TV with the device) and 50% NTFS which is more performant than FAT32 and allows files larger than 4 GB (mandatory for HD movies).
Some say the device is noisy; unless Memup has made efforts, I do not find it too noisy. Everyone agrees the user manual is glossy paper and colors and is useless! But regarding Memup's customer service, unlike what I read, it was reachable and the person was French, so no communication problems, lol!
I hope I have helped quite a few people who found themselves in difficulties like me!-
to access recordings made by the NRX from a computer on the network, see the message
Memup NRX access to My Recordings on PC
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-16220917-memup-nrx-acces-a-my-recordings-sur-pc
it's 10 times slower than USB, but it avoids plugging and unplugging the video input and output.

For those who have problems with their connection when trying to get the channel reception screen in the menu: you need to go buy a Peritel/RCA plug with an Output not provided in the package. By connecting it to the VCR, you will finally get the channels to display. I say "finally," because I struggled for a while before realizing that this was what prevented proper operation. There is a Peritel/RCA plug in the box, but it is only used in the NRX > TV direction, whereas what we want is the reverse.

Hi, you need to connect the audio-video cable as indicated in the manual to an audio-video output of a satellite demodulator or on a TNT decoder; it works very well, because the TV has no video output
see you later- and how to record with a CanalSat decoder? connect the audio/video cables to AV IN and then connect to my decoder, and when I want to schedule a recording or use the time shift I get a blue screen; otherwise everything works correctly. Please answer me if you have the solution, I can't reach the technicians at Memup by phone or email, they don't answer.

Is a SCART SCART TV output not a خروج? The Orange decoder has a SCART-Péritel, impossible to use?
-
Hello!!!
Have you found a solution! I also can’t record TV with my NRX.
My problem is that I have a Sony TV with the built-in DVB-T tuner... so no "output" from the DVB-T box, and when I do the suggested connections, I always get the blue screen. with the HDMI, the in and out cables, the video-audio cables, and even the SCART... -
I also have TNT integrated into the TV, and even when connected to my CanalSat or my Neuf decoder I still get the blue screen, even though apparently my wiring is correct. Maybe it's just a setting issue, but it's really starting to piss me off! And Memup is still unreachable.
-
I just bought a Péritel with RCA output that I plugged into my CanalSat and finally everything works!
-
Thank you Titi!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m going to go buy an RCA output SCART adaptor now and I’m praying it works!!!! -
However I connected my video output to my CanalSat decoder and I don't know which output you should connect for the built-in TNT on the TV
-
I also have a TV with built‑in DVB-T, which outlet should I plug into? Titi, did you find the solution because you’re in the same situation as me, I think, thanks
-
Sorry but I haven't found the solution yet for connecting to a TV with TNT; for now I'm connected to my CanalSat decoder.
-
Hi titi, I’m asking you for advice on wiring my NRX. As for recording, I’m completely struggling and MEMUP’s after-sales service is extremely efficient!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have a Canal Plus decoder as well as a SCART RCA in/out. please inform me. best regards.
- Tutorial for recording:
connect your hard drive to the AUX IN input.
connect the other end of the cable to a piece of SCART.
I had one in stock at home with an IN or OUT function on the SCART piece.
so I connected the plugs to the SCART piece that I attached to my TV, positioning it on OUT.
then with your remote control, set your TV to the channel to record.
then take the hard drive remote again and press the VIDEO IN tab and normally
the previously chosen channel will appear.
then just click on time rec to record.
hoping I have helped you.......
best regards - Hello everyone, after struggling for a long time with connecting the disk, I’ve finally found the solution. For my part I have a classic TV, not a flat screen. First you need to connect the disk with the provided cable, either directly to the white, yellow and red plugs on the TV, or by connecting them to the SCART (péritel) and then to the TV. The other end should be plugged into the appropriate sockets on the back of the disk, that is the three yellow, red and white sockets (placed horizontally) at the bottom. See the manual at least for this point, it’s useful... Where it gets tricky is that it’s not enough; at the moment we send the signal from the disk to the TV but we do not receive the TV signal, we see the disk’s menu on the TV screen but not the TV in the window of that menu... To do this, you need to connect another cable with the three color plugs; the cable’s end connects to the back of the disk on the input ports (two horizontal and one vertical), see the manual. The other end connects, for example, to the TV’s front, or to the output of your BOX or elsewhere, but be careful the SCART cable is not provided and it must be IN and OUT, meaning the signal can pass in both directions. In practice it will be set to OUT, meaning the signal from the TV or BOX output is directed and received by the player. In short, the package that comes with the disk is missing half of the connectors. This time we receive the signal from the TV or BOX on the disk and we can record the program that is on the selected channel, then we have to juggle the TV and the BOX to watch one channel and record another... I hope I’ve been clear and that this has helped you a bit.

hello,
I own an Orange decoder for the Livebox and I have the same problem: no way to record, blue screen.
If anyone knows the solution please share it.
thank you -
Hello guys
To summarize for those who have a TV with integrated TNT, you can't record directly from that source even with a SCART output, so several solutions are available to us:
- go through a Freebox...
- or go through a VCR
- or, and the simplest and most economical, buy an external TNT decoder (29 euros) and connect SCART to the decoder and the 3 RCA to the RX (NRX), and it works very well.
Otherwise I find it very noisy. Has anyone found a solution, for example by changing the small fan that spins too fast and is very inefficient since it cools the chip by only 4 degrees and the hard drive by 0.8 degrees?
(excerpt taken from the hard drive multimedia tests site)
Has anyone unplugged this fan? Only 2 screws to unscrew at the back of the NXT -
Hello,
I would like to get help to make timeshift work because either I’m stupid or it’s not working. In setup, the timeshift setting is properly enabled though. I can record, I can share with my PC but timeshift is impossible. Every time I press the button I always get a symbol with a barred hand that appears. Could you explain how to get timeshift working, please? -
slut
my NRX isn’t working with the HDMI cable
is there something to configure?
also a network problem I don’t see the shared folders from my PC on my NRX.
thanks -
A big thank you to all of you, because I managed to get the recording working thanks to all your little tips.
This is the type of SCART adapter you need for those who don’t have it or don’t know what it is:

Do you have to leave the TV on to record a program?
Because it's not very practical.
We have to monitor the program we're recording. -
Hi,
thanks for your knowledge, I haven't tested your method which seems quite complicated to me, but it's a pity that it only serves to view NRX recordings from the PC. Especially if data transfer is 10 times slower on LAN than on USB.
