Hello
I recently bought a Vivitar digital camera, model Vivicam 3740, and I can't transfer my photos to the PC. The manual explains it quite poorly; if someone could explain it to me, it would be nice. Thank you very much!!!

    Hello everyone,
Here I have a VIVICAM 3740 and when I insert the memory card the screen shows VER-CARD and I can't take photos.
I checked my card on my PALM and it works fine, I even formatted it.
If someone has had the same problem and if a solution is possible, please contact me.
    Thanks, goodbye.

I have a Vivicam 3740 camera that works wonderfully under XP Pro.

For the installation, you need to go into the camera menu, then go to settings, then USB, and set it to "card reader" (it should appear more pressed down than the one above).
From then on, when you connect it to the PC (camera turned on, as if you were about to take a photo, for example), it will be recognized as a removable disk, and then you just need to visit My Computer to "remove" the photos ;)
You only need to install the driver if you want to use the camera as a webcam (in that case, you need to go into the camera menu and select "PC camera" instead of "card reader").
The provided software is superficial in my opinion, and apart from "clogging up the Windows system", it serves no purpose!

As for my use of the camera, it must be said that it is entry-level; the photos are "dark", "opaque" and need to be improved with software to increase brightness and contrast (but for the price I paid, I don't complain! (49 euros new ^^)).
The flash is, in my opinion, insufficient, and the lack of a macro mode does not allow for "close-ups". The optical zoom is also lacking... too bad!

I hope my comment helps you use this camera ;)

    Hello

Well, I'm a newbie but can we check something

Did you install the connection software that came with the device?

What type of cable are you using to connect it to your PC?

Does it have a transfer mode or a button on the device?

When you plug it into your PC, what happens?

Do you get a new drive in "My Computer" when you connect it?

I have the same issue with the Vivicam 3740. The setup CD forces you to install all sorts of software that I find unnecessary for simple use. Furthermore, the manual is in Spanish. So if someone would be kind enough to explain how to simply install this camera, it would be really cool.

    On the official site:
"Windows Me/2000/XP users do not require a driver. The camera will be automatically detected as a USB Mass Storage Device with native support offered by Windows. Your camera will appear as a hard drive when connected to your PC. (Camera must be powered on)"

This means that once connected and turned on, the camera will be recognized by XP (do you at least have XP? or 98?)
You just need to go to Windows Explorer and look for a drive that wasn’t there before.

    Quick translation:
"users of Windows 2000/Me/XP do not need to install a driver. The camera automatically detects the USB utility installed on Windows. Your camera will appear as a hard drive connected to your PC (the device must be turned on)"
If it doesn't work, don't bother, return to the manufacturer, or return to the seller, if it's under warranty, get one from another brand.

    Enjoy yourself :p

      Hello Oon,

indeed the device should be immediately recognized by Windows XP.
But I have a problem because the photo transfer is not working. I have downloaded the driver provided with the device but still no digital connection-camera.
      Do you have any idea?

      Thanks for everything

      Carl

Have you tried plugging/unplugging and turning the device on/off?
Every now and then I have the same issue, and after several attempts, it ends up working.

No, it recognizes the device but requests the driver
        which I do not have.

    Hello,
I have a Vivicam 3740 device and the lens does not open at the same time as the FLASH. I'm looking for a place in Montreal or Laval, Q.C. where I could get it repaired. The only address I have is in Toronto. My camera is still under warranty. Thank you for your help,

    André

Hi, I recently got a Vivitar digital camera (vivicam 3713) and I can't get it installed even though I have XP, so it should recognize it right away. It does recognize it but then tells me that the installation is impossible!! So it's starting to get a bit annoying.
If anyone can help me, please don't hesitate.
    Thank you in advance.

Problem with a Vivitar 3713 won with Express
Problem with the SD card that the device does not want to accept, indicating card error
      Otherwise works well
      Does anyone have the solution?

Hello, I'm in pretty much the same situation as you. I won a Vivicam 3713 digital camera at the Express, but my problem is that I can't install it. It keeps telling me that it's impossible to install. Could you help me because I'm starting to lose patience?
If you could send me the drivers over the internet, I would be very grateful.
Thank you in advance while I wait to hear from you.

        Good evening
Following the issue with the Vivitar 3713
I called the Vivitar customer service, number on the manual
they advised me to use a Scan Disk or Dan Elec memory card
because it is possible that the one I have in place (a PNY) is not recognized by the device
otherwise the customer service replied that since the device worked well without the memory card, it was not their fault and therefore it was pointless to send it back to them
they suggested I try different SD cards to ensure proper compatibility
I gave the device to my parents since I have another one on which the card in question works well.
I can't tell you more for now
good luck / to be continued /
