Hello,
I have a problem with a digital camera I received for Christmas. The screen remains black and the photos are also black. It's a Nikon Coolpix P60; it's not a battery issue because it turns on. The menu displays correctly. I had a similar problem with a Sony, but fortunately, Sony was recalling the defective series that mine belonged to, and now, it's the same issue coming back but with a different brand! It's just bad luck;
I haven't yet found any answer to this problem on any forum, not even from NIKON who hasn't replied to me yet.

Thank you for your response.

Hello everyone,
Here is a method to get your Nikon Coolpix back in working order. This method works for all models in the series, as the technology is essentially the same, and so is the problem.
Beware, this method is at your own risk. Its success rate is very high if you meticulously follow the steps outlined.
Prerequisite: Your device is fully charged. When turned on, the screen is black and so are the photos. Everything else seems to work. Turn it off.
1) Hold your device firmly in the palm of your hand, with the screen facing your palm.
2) Raise your right fist to the level of your right ear.
3) Aim with your elbow at the word "Coolpix," just below the flash.
4) Strike. Attention, the type of strike is very important. You must not smash your blow by stopping your motion. You need to perform a "smac," meaning that you should give bounce to your strike, as if you were afraid of burning yourself right after touching the indicated spot.
5) Turn your device back on. If the operation worked, congratulations, you've just saved a bit of money and your device shouldn't give you any more trouble. If the device doesn't work, repeat steps 1) to 4) until it is operational again. It might work right away, or take a little while. It mostly depends on the quality of your elbow strike. Remember, do not try to smash or crush it. This is about mechanically unlocking the issue.
There you go, and keep me updated!!!
