Stuck drawer LG RHT297 DVD player

Hello,
I have an LG RHT297 DVD recorder/player with a hard drive. After burning a DVD+RW, I am unable to eject the DVD. I do not have access to finalize the disc, and the tray remains stuck. What can I do to eject the DVD? Thank you in advance for helping me solve this problem.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Have you tried unplugging the power outlet (and then plugging it back in, of course!!)

ha,ha, nice try, but it doesn't work! my eject button is stuck too, what should I do?

Hi,

You need to switch back to "DVD" mode and then hit "eject." It will create a menu and then eject the disc.

I am extremely disappointed with the DVD part of this unit. It has already failed on me once. I replaced it at my own expense, and now it’s happening again (it doesn't recognize the DVDs it formatted itself.... refuses to play them ...)

Anyway, it's a real piece of CRAP. I wrote to LG to ask for a refund for the DVD part I replaced, and they didn’t want to hear anything...

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WE CAN REPLACE THE DRIVE PART WITH A GENERIC PC DEVICE????

I have an LG RHT 297H, I obviously have this problem like everyone else, the device is 18 months old, I consulted a computer specialist, and it's impossible to replace the original drive with another one from the market (non-standard connection), the solution I found is to take this big piece of junk to the dump and goodbye LG for anything (this is the second one I have, not the same model, but the same problem), sincerely.

Hello...

This is a "specialist" like there are everywhere!
It's very possible to put a PC burner on a home burner, I used to do it regularly... I admit that the malfunction never disappeared for all that, as it was elsewhere, but it manifested itself in the same way with all the burners I put in place of the original one!

PS: It is true that LG seems to have implemented a program that creates malfunctions just after the warranty ends... I think I'm exaggerating, but oh well...?!

Hello to all the comrades in hardship of RHT297,

I have reluctantly decided, with a heavy heart, to change the reader part (already changed a year ago). However, I had a good time with the technician from "SOS accessories" to check if the replacement model had evolved (it now costs €47 instead of the €95 from last year..) and indeed the reference has changed (RS-06 instead of RS-02) and the electronics as well)

So, for lack of a better option (we have to wait for affordable HD models....) I changed it a second time.

For now, everything's fine.

Hello everyone, I'm having the same problem with my LG RHT297H; it no longer recognizes the discs it burns, and now it won't close the tray. I have to unplug it every time to turn it off; otherwise, the tray opens and it doesn’t turn off. So I was wondering if I could replace its disc drive? Or if there’s a way to record everything that’s stored on the hard drive through something other than its burner? Thank you if there is a solution to let me know.
