How to open a torrent file? Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I can't open a file with the .torrent extension. I downloaded it correctly on BitTorrent (it's not the link but the file itself), but when I click on my .torrent file, it opens BitTorrent and says "the torrent you are trying to add is already in the list of torrents. Do you want to load the trackers from it?" So I'm not sure what I should use to open it to be able to read it. It doesn't work with VLC or Windows Media Player. Could someone please help me? Thank you very much in advance...

you didn't understand what you downloaded, it's just a "link" between your client (meaning download software: utorrent, azureus, bitlord ...) and your tracker (meaning snowtiger, reload paradise, openspacetorrent, metrotorrent...)

you need to download, for example, utorrent, then from there open your .torrent
only then will the download start

Well, a torrent file is a "gateway" between what you want to download and your download, so take a good look in BitTorrent, but once you open it, the download usually starts in BitTorrent; it says it’s ILLEGAL.

The torrent is already in your download list. Do you want to load the new sources for this file?

Actually, a torrent can be the same but with different files.

You need to let BitTorrent start so that your file downloads completely; it can take more or less time depending on what you are downloading and your internet speed.

But you should also take into account the number of seeders (meaning the number of people sharing the file). You can see this on your client here, BitTorrent, or on the tracker where you chose your file...

If you have to choose, prefer uTorrent or Azureus as a client rather than BitTorrent, and be cautious about the content of certain trackers...

Well, actually I've already downloaded it completely (at 100%), but now I’d like to read it and I don’t know how to do that. What am I supposed to open it with, given that Windows Media and VLC apparently don't accept the .torrent extension?

Thank you for your answers! : ) But actually, I already have a downloading software (BitTorrent is the same as Azureus or Utorrent) and indeed, I first downloaded a link from a site but then I downloaded the file on BitTorrent. So do you want to tell me that once the download is complete, the extension should have changed and I could read it with any player? Or unless my mistake is looking at where the link was before but it's supposed to become the file, right? I'm not sure if I'm very clear?.. : )

Clic droit dans ton client sur le fichier terminé et choisis "ouvrir le dossier conteneur" ou "montrer dans l'explorateur", tu trouveras ton fichier terminé.

Normally, when you go to the site to download your torrent, you click on it, and it asks you to open it with Bitorrent or to save it.

I do:

Save. Then, I see it on my desktop, I double-click on it, and it appears in the Download list in utorrent. After that, the file on your desktop is useless, and another one appears (the one for your actual file that is downloading)

If you choose to open it when you download, it won't download the file to double-click on your desktop, but it will directly open the file in the Download list.

There are always files that have crap in them =)  Watch out especially for .exe files or folders, but after regular use, you'll recognize fraudulent files or not  Best regards, Zep' ;)
