How to install fonts in gimp on mac

for example in the help section of dafont.com, there is a small help (dafont is a dedicated site).

Mac OS X recognizes TrueType or OpenType versions (.ttf and .otf) but not PC bitmap fonts (.fon).
The files are compressed, you may need a utility like Stuffit Expander.

On Mac OS X 10.3 or later (including the Font Book)
Double-click on the font file > "Install Font" button at the bottom of the window.

On any version of Mac OS X:
Place the files in /Library/Fonts (for all users),
or in /Users (or Utilisateurs)/Your_user_name/Library (or Bibliothèque)/Fonts (for you only).

On Mac OS 9 and earlier:
Old Mac fonts are no longer supported on dafont. You need to first convert the font files (.ttf or .otf) that you have downloaded.
Then drag the font suitcase into the System folder. The system will prompt you to put them in the Fonts folder.

In Gimp, there is a help section with chapter 4.12 titled "Text and Fonts" which includes a subsection "Adding Fonts". It states:

"Adding Fonts

For more information about fonts, see the fonts page on the website www.gimp-fr.org"
