SCHNEIDER SDV439 Universal Remote Control

Question

Hello, I own a DVD player SDV-439/19 SCHNEIDER WITHOUT A REMOTE CONTROL  it seems that SCHNEIDER DVD players have issues with universal remotes! does this player use a different code than the standardized RC5 code (2048 possibilities)?  Neither of my two universal remotes are accepted, neither with the codes from the list nor through automatic search (scans the codes and turns off the device)  The SDV439 player is unknown on Philips's website which....manufactures it in Hungary!  I am looking for someone who has successfully used a universal remote with this type of player in order to buy the same model.  unless I'm mistaken, the remote uses the same coding for the SDV434 SDV436 or SDV439 players  Thank you very much to anyone who can give me a tip

I don't quite understand: "scan the codes and turn off the device" ...?!

This is very often normal when looking for a code by scanning it, except that at that point, you need to manipulate the remote control so that it memorizes the code it just found since it turned off the device....

Or maybe I didn't grasp everything, or your remote control is strange?!

yes, it is about the universal remote control that I have, there is an automatic search function.

It takes quite a long time, the remote slowly scans the codes (2048 possibilities) by sending TWO PIECES OF INFORMATION AT THE SAME TIME, one that changes and the other that does not:

1) the GENERAL code of the device for example SONY model X code 0875, Philips X = 0876 etc...
2) the STANDBY info

When the GENERAL code of the device is correct, the DVD player recognizes it and accepts the STANDBY, then we see the player turn off

You then have to jump on the universal remote to stop it before it moves to the next GENERAL code and memorize this code
The remote is ready to use.

Do you have the Philips/Schneider reference for your remote control? Something like 3141.017.90341

I think it’s better to direct you towards a replacement remote that you can be sure works like the original remote instead of a so-called universal remote.

Yes, I thought about the replacement remote, but the price is close to that of a new entry-level player! Similarly, the customer service at my big store offers a genuine remote for over 30 euros for a player sold for 39 euros new!

I already have 2 universal remotes. With this player, it means that originally I couldn't obtain the service of grouping basic commands on a single remote! If I had known, I wouldn't have bought this device. For me, this is very close to a "hidden defect."

There should be a blacklist of brands with NON-STANDARD infrared remotes.

Hello,  I have the same issue as you with this player bought this year at Carrefour.  Did you find a solution?  I haven't. I was advised to buy another DVD player.  Thank you for your reply.
