Libertysurf configuration for Thunderbird

Hello,
I have recently started using Thunderbird for messaging. I have managed to set up my two different accounts on it. My problem is configuring my third account for my old address which is on Libertysurf (now Alice).
Today, I have to open a session with Firefox and then log into Alice.
The information used for the configuration is pop.aliceadsl.fr and smtp.aliceadsl.fr.
When I try to retrieve the messages, Thunderbird replies: domain does not exist or incorrect domain name.
Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, what was the solution?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Have a good weekend during the August 15th holiday.

J.O.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.16

    hello
    try pop.libertysurf.fr
for the outgoing SMTP server, you need to use that of the ISP smtp.neuf.fr
    if Neuf is the ISP

    Hi Dubeck,
I changed the SMTP but I'm still getting the error.
However, I corrected the error message from Thunderbird: THE POP MAIL SERVER POP.ALICEADSL.FR REPLIED: NO DOMAIN SPECIFIED OR INVALID DOMAIN SPECIFIED.
The beginning of the message relates to the password, but I only use one password to log in to Liberty, so the password is correct.

Anyway, thanks for your quick reply...

    and by testing
    start -> run -> cmd
    ping POP.ALICEADSL.FR
does it respond with 0% loss?

Absolutely, 0% loss for 4 packets.
However, the ping is redirected to mail.libertysurf.net.
I tried this address for the pop but same thing!
That said, in the settings, you have the port, configured by default to 110. Should it be changed?

I feel like we're hitting a dead end.
In the transfer process between Liberty, Tiscali, and Alice, my address has always remained @libertysurf.fr.
So, when you log into the email, the Alice page prompts you to choose your ISP (@ISP.xx).
I had already tried to get the correct information with help, but when you enter your name.surname@libertysurf.fr, it kicks you out as if you're not Alice, hence not under their tutelage. In short, it's a catch-22.
That said, thank you for the link to the page, as I couldn't even get there!

Dubeck, don't search anymore, I found it!
    There were several configuration issues...
So, the pop is identical to the smtp, which is libertysurf.fr.
However, where my settings were wrong was in the username. I had indicated a generic name (the same as my two other neuf addresses) and that was a mistake. By finding old documents (7 years old, they're almost like parchments!), I found a username that had been provided to me by liberty.
Now, when you change the smtp and the username, Thunderbird loads your 25 overdue messages that were left on the server...
Dubeck, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help.
Have a good end of August 15th,

The POP libertysurf still exists, even after the transition to Alice. For future users who may encounter this problem, here is the solution that I used, which works well with Mail on MAC OS X as well as with Evolution on Linux:

For incoming mail to a libertysurf address like titi.toto@libertysurf.fr, the user name to configure in the POP access is:

      titi.toto%libertysurf.fr
(it is indeed a % replacing the @ here)

The port is standard 110, WITHOUT SSL security.

For outgoing mail, you can use your own ISP's (for example smtp.free.fr).

      Hope this helps

        Great, that works,
I had to replace my old login (which I had no memory of) with this new one.
Thanks again. It's a shame, though, that Alice hasn't communicated about this issue... maybe by email ;)

Same for me, I've been struggling for 3 days to reconfigure my Liberty email after a Netscape crash. Thank you very much zigomatix, problem solved!
