Hello,
I have a Blackberry 8820 but I can't figure out how to write accents on "é" and "à". Does anyone have the solution? Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm lost :-)

Hello,
For my part, I have a BB Curve 8520. But I think it's the same for accents, cedillas, etc.
So, when you want to write an "é," you need to hold down the "e" key and with the thumb of the other hand scroll on the "track pad" (the square button in the middle) through the different proposed "e" options until you find "é."
There you go!
Now, you will still have some letters that are impossible to obtain. Like, for example, the lowercase "ç." It is part of the available letters for SMS but not for emails (or vice versa)! Go figure why! Indeed, when you operate as explained above, only the uppercase "Ç" is available! Yes, it's silly, but that's the way it is!
To be able to get ALL the letters you need to write normally in French, there is a small "trick" to do beforehand. Here it is...
- Go to "Menu,"
- click on "Options" (the wrench symbol),
- in the list that appears, click on SMS,
- in the list that appears, you will find "Data Encoding" and next to it, you will find "7 bit,"
- when you click on it, it offers you "7 bits" or "UCS2,"
- click on "UCS2."
And there you go! By operating as explained at the top of this message, you will now have access to ALL the characters.
Happy typing,

Thaaaaaaaaaaank you.
I have a Curve 8900 bought in the UAE and I was starting to wonder if I would spend the next few years making mistakes in all the emails and messages sent... Not really great for clients!
But now... perfect!!! It works!!!
