Hello,
My son's DS (which is 4 months old) has a black spot on the upper screen that has formed. I brought it back after buying it from Géant Casino (which I do not commend) and they sent us away and do not cover it under warranty even though it hasn't been dropped. What should I do?

Hello, I just had a similar issue:
When I bought my DS, the top screen had a black spot right in the middle. When I put a screen protector on it, the black spot turned into a black stain (5mm in diameter) and pressing on the screen made it bigger.
I took it back to my retailer's store. They explained to me that it could be due to humidity trapped between the different layers of the LCD screen. To fix this issue, they quickly blew air using a hairdryer on the screen and into the holes for the speakers to make the stain disappear. In 5 minutes, the screen was perfect.
As a precaution, they told me not to hold the hairdryer closer than 5cm and not to use it on the highest setting to avoid burning or overheating the DS. With some patience, there's no need to change the screen...

If it's the Nintendo DS that's 4 months old, it should still be under warranty: it's 6 months, I think, in France? Show them the proof of purchase and the packaging, and they will be obliged to exchange it, or at least send it back to Nintendo.
Otherwise, "threaten" them with legal action: for not respecting the warranty period. Or contact Nintendo directly.

Hello, my son's DS also has a black spot on the top screen. I don't know if it has been dropped. My husband took it to Cora, and they said it had been dropped and that the warranty probably wouldn't apply. He has to take it back because the lady from the customer service wasn't there. And you, how did it end? Did they repair or replace it for free since it was under warranty? Thank you for replying…
La meilleure solution serait de ramener la DS dans un magasin de jeux vidéo ou sinon de la revendre sur eBay et d'acheter une autre.
Hello
I have the same issue with my son's 3DS; there are 3 black spots on the top screen. I used a hairdryer on a cold setting to avoid overheating the DS, but I stopped after 5 minutes with no results. How long did you use the hairdryer on your DS, please?
The DS is 3 months old; do you think I can send it back under warranty?
Thank you very much for your responses.

I have a big "ink" stain of 2 cm in the middle of the top screen of my DS lite,
I tried using a hairdryer, but after 10 minutes I gave up, I don't want to fry it.
How exactly should I do it? Does it need to be very hot? 5 cm max from the screen? Maybe I should stay still and not move the hairdryer, but I'm afraid of frying a component...
