Indeed, there are several ways to send SMS messages anonymously. However, one must be very careful because, if it's for a funny prank, this type of sending poses no problems, but if it's to break the law; sending threats, for example, it will be very easy for the authorities to trace the sender's details.
The simplest trick is to use someone else's number to send the text. Obviously, this method is not truly anonymous since the number displayed will simply be unknown to the recipient.
If you really want to send an SMS without an displayed number, or with a "weird" looking number, then you will need to turn to various websites that offer this type of service.
On the website of the telephone operator Orange, it is possible to send an SMS that could be considered anonymous since the numbers are not from a mobile, but you must be a subscriber to the latter.
For anyone with Orange, all you need to do is register and then access the SMS Web page, and 1 free SMS is offered every day, especially since the sender's number shown on the message is of the type 16487. I believe that the SFR network also offers this type of SMS sending service.
For those subscribed to other operators, the only solution is to use an application to create a second virtual number: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-6973431-comment-masquer-le-numero-en-envoyant-un-sms#133
