You go to format, character, symbol all the way to the right there are 3 choices:
You select superscript
- superscript
- normal
- and subscript.
You select superscript

Yes, that is indeed the solution and not the others!

Your solution is clear and also correct, thank you :)
Hi Fabienne,
What you're asking for is perhaps more of a subscript than a superscript... that is, a small 2 lowered for the molecular formulation.
For Word, format, font, check subscript.
Best regards and see you later

Hello, Key: 4² means four squared and not the square root of four.
you are all very friendly, I am happy to read you and to learn slowly through your emails about computing, especially everything that should not be done and also your very useful judgements on materials and methods; Thank you. The charter is very good.

Hi everyone!
So the best and simplest solution to do this is as follows:
To insert an exponent, simply press the 3 keys "ctrl+shift+=" simultaneously, and you can start writing in exponent. To return to normal mode, press "ctrl+spacebar" simultaneously :)
There you go!!!

Hi,
4²... in 0.00001 sec with the keyboard...
H²O, etc...

_____Shaka_____ Avada Kedavra
you have a key at the top left of your keyboard with a small 2
That's for the exponent 2, but what if you want 3 or 4?
And when you want subscripts?
In conclusion, don't join a discussion that's already a few years old...

Hi firehead..
Wow...!! I didn't know where that character was.
I've only stuck with Word 97 and that's good enough for me... Is it in a later version?
Congratulations also for translating:
put the square root underneath my formula (n.p.q.)
Best regards and @+

Hi there,
It's indeed in Word 2003, but with one detail, it's the same in other versions, except that the special characters table is a bit more readable thanks to the "subsets" dropdown menu.
As for the translation of "put the square root below my formula (n.p.q.)", I didn't quite understand; she might have wanted something a bit more complex, but I can't transcribe it here. Otherwise, there are free mathematical utilities for Word like the Cmath math glossary.

Hello Hourra.
If you had seen Lake St. Jean (Region), you would understand that we are in "Paradise.... and then I am looking for the key to lock it and I can't find it. Is there anyone who knows where we could see the picture of the keyboard with all the functions, so we don't have to memorize the hiding places of each key?
Hello
If you come to the Lake, let me know. I'll reserve a room for you.

Re.. cle,
The Kingdom, the fjord.. I know them by reputation..
Anyway, everything is beautiful in Quebec. Only Montreal, which I only passed through, didn't please me as much, but I would have needed to spend more time there.
A "photo" annotated of a Canadian keyboard.. that should be found on the net.. with a bit of searching..
Best regards and @+
