Hello,
when I start my PC a message appears saying this: Input string was not in a correct format ...
can someone tell me what it is about and what I can do to make this warning go away? I should specify that my PC is Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 7

Hi,
the message you receive is in a pop-up window, or an Internet Explorer page (which also launches at startup, by the way, not normal)?
If it's in a pop-up window, you must have a software that launches and crashes, try uninstalling the latest software you installed, then restart. If not, disable their launch in the registry (Start, Run, regedit, then in LocalMachine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Run. Remove anything on the right that doesn’t seem useful to you (while leaving the antivirus for example))
In the same way, if it's an IE window, it's either - software trying to check for an update online and their site has a problem, or - a virus trying to communicate with an erroneous page.
In both cases, I recommend using an antivirus and scanning all your hard drives, memory, page files... everything...
Then restart, and, hoping this works, good luck ^^

I just read your help on How it works. I want to thank you because I was able to get rid of the message that appeared when I opened my PC: "Input string was not in a correct format."
I had installed update checker, which was definitely an outdated version.
Thanks to you, I was able to fix my problem.
Sincerely,
Marie
