Strange phenomenon! Avast installed itself without my knowledge.

Hello everyone,

I just noticed a strange phenomenon. I saw an Avast window pop up. However, I haven't installed Avast. A suspicion arose, and I ran a zhpdiag. Zero threats. Except that I now observe with horror that Windows Defender is disabled and that Avast installed itself without my consent, and guess when? This morning at 5:17 AM while I was sound asleep under my blanket! A free Avast antivirus for a year without asking for my opinion, and it removed Defender. I can't reactivate it. I'm really frustrated and I’m starting to wonder if it's really Avast. It’s like Canada Dry; it looks and has the color, but it behaves like malware, this kind of process!!! Please let me know what you think and what I should do.

Do you have CCleaner? If so, we have our answer for why it was installed without permission. Because Avast acquired CCleaner, it's possible that they included a program to install Avast if we have CCleaner :3 this is my theory.

I downloaded it from toolibs. Zero threat.
I had already checked it on zhpdiag.
What worries me:
1) If it's Avast, how could it install itself? I dislike this kind of forcing! It's all the more stupid since the product seems good, and if it hadn't acted this way, I might have kept it. But now, I’m going to restore. It pisses me off because I had done research for my thesis and I’m going to lose my history from the last few days!

2) If Avast acts this way, it means it has created a backdoor on my PC. And it came to install itself last night, like a hacker. I'm as cautious as a cat. I pay attention to downloads. By the way, I didn’t download anything yesterday. I don’t wander around sketchy sites. It freaks me out!

You may have been tricked by the InstallCore installer: https://forum.malekal.com/viewtopic.php?t=53580&start=

Go to the control panel
then programs and features.
Uninstall Avast!, check the installation date, if you have other unknown programs installed around that date, uninstall them (Yahoo Set, Chromium, etc).
If Avast! doesn't uninstall, check this link: https://www.malekal.com/desinstaller-supprimer-avast/

Windows Defender should start working again once Avast! is uninstalled.

You have Avast because you're downloading incorrectly. Always type "Adobe Flash Player offline" and it gives you this ( https://www.adobe.com/fr/products/flashplayer/distribution.html ). In normal mode, it's https://www.adobe.com/fr/products/flashplayer/distribution.html. After that, download the program
DISCONNECT INTERNET <<< ALWAYS DISCONNECT AT THE TIME OF INSTALLATION >>> and install the program you want. Preferably uninstall Avast with a software for that, like https://fr.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ and you're all set.
