Epson Stylus Color 600 Disassembly

Hello everyone

Due to clogged nozzles (black ink), I decided to dismantle my "Epson Stylus Color 600" printer (to soak the cartridge holder in medical alcohol). The operation went perfectly (cover, shaft, etc.) until the moment I need to disconnect the cartridge holder from the small toothed belt. It seems to me that this belt is attached on both sides to this holder. Not wanting to go further for fear of breaking everything... I would like to know if the holder is crimped on this belt at both ends... if not, how to remove it.

Can I obtain the diagrams for this part to disassemble from Epson...?

Thank you for your participation and have a great weekend everyone @++

for the print head of the Stylus 600, there's no need to remove the belt
just take out the cartridges, remove the cartridge closure covers
gently, respecting the position of the removal latches
remove the head support bar (one screw then slide the bar)
unclip the cable and the head will come off with it.
during reassembly, make sure that the electronic board is dry

I took everything apart and put it back together as you said, but the red lights indicate that the cartridges are empty even though I just changed them?

      Why?

      Hello,
This is not a response but a request. I have a problem with my Epson Stylus 800; the ink has dried up and I wanted to ask you how I can dismantle the block where the ink cartridges are placed (with precision as I am not very skilled) and how to clean everything.
Thank you for your reply, it would be very kind.
      Best regards.

    Hello,
Normally this belt is inserted into an open groove molded at the bottom of the cartridge holder. So you need to remove the retaining clip of the belt tension rollers on one side, then take out the cartridge holder and slide the belt out of this groove.
NOTE: Don't forget to clean the backup pad (if you're at it), it's located in the area where the carriage is stored at rest, and it looks like foam or felt soaked in ink.

Thank you, Peps, for your reply..

I will take a look at that this afternoon... because this work is not very clean and we need to protect ourselves.... If I see that it resists, I can try to undo the belt from its 2 drive pulleys.... and only soak the nozzles in alcohol, while protecting the belt??

Thanks again for your advice @++ Roland Have a good weekend.

    Hello,
Why not simply cut the belt?
    I repeat:
    - Remove the pin that holds the wheel tensioning the belt on one side.
    - Take out the wheel, this will loosen the belt (make sure to note how it fits into the drive, otherwise you’ll be laughing during reassembly).
    - Remove the carriage (cartridge holder) and turn it over.
    - Clear that carriage, or see if the cartridge holder is not held by plastic clips on the carriage.
    - Once you’ve done all that, make sure by dipping the nozzles that the integrated circuit does not soak in 90° alcohol.
NOTE: If you dip the belt in alcohol, you'll dissolve some of its components, which will either: loosen it and make it play on the wheels, or completely harden it and make it snap; depending on the percentages of the associated components used in its manufacturing, and the temperature that friction will apply to it.
WARNING: The metal plate under the holder is a kind of matrix (it is conductive, crimped, and must not be marked with grease stains), so no need to touch it or wipe it with a fuzzy cloth (sensitive to electrostatics).
Don't forget to clean the backup pad with lukewarm water only (this is normally how we dilute ink on all elements, but if your advice is reliable for 90° alcohol, try it).

      Hello "peps"

Thank you for all these tips which are very interesting. I approached it a bit differently... One of the two pulleys has a tensioning system with a spring... you just need to slightly push this belt tensioner to release it... then remove the shaft on which the cartridge holder is mounted. Afterwards, I soaked the nozzles in a bit of plastic lid (don't worry, not the belt... on one hand, the crimping didn't inspire me with confidence for reassembly... and on the other hand, it was very clean and I know that the alcohol could harden it) after soaking for a few hours, I dried them on paper towels...

In the morning, I will reassemble....

Thanks again and see you soon!

Do you have a document or a website to help me dismantle my EPSON printer? The paper is not being picked up by the printer, and the print head is moving around without printing. I see that you are a professional, so if you could assist me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
