Hello,
For some time now I have been using BitComet, which is very fast (max 120KB), but not long ago
I discovered that it can be set to a higher speed (over 200KB).

Does anyone have an idea how to do that?

Thanks in advance!
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.14

There’s nothing simpler: forget the livebox and other router settings. You just need to configure your Windows firewall and your ISP’s (Internet Service Provider) firewall to allow the application. Then, in BitComet or any other BitTorrent client (uTorrent, Azureus...), set the port number to 443 and enable "force encryption" or "randomize port each start" or something like that, and don’t make any other adjustments. Then restart your torrent software, here BitComet, and you won’t go below 100 KB/s with peaks at 500 KB/s, unless what you’re downloading has few sources or few seeders; in that case, there’s not much you can do but wait. But in any case, it should be at least 60 KB/s. If you drop to 20 or 30 KB/s after making these adjustments, you can always install this software at this address: https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche50874-bittorrent-turbo-accelerator.html
Hoping I helped you.

The speed is limited by your internet provider and also by the availability of your files and the connection speed of the "senders"

there's not really any settings... Sometimes I reach over 500ko/s without changing anything

Yes, but it seems we can modify the router to make downloads faster?

I'm also experiencing slow speeds with Bitcomet now; at first, it was between 60kb/s and 130kb/s. Then it dropped to around 20kb/s. I searched the internet and made some adjustments (I messed around quite a bit), which brought it up to 60kb/s, but now it's gone back down to 30kb/s... my file is 10GB... it's taking way too long and I've been at it for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and I'm only at 0.5%. I would really like to finish before next year =)

Thanks for helping me!

I'm experiencing the same issue, 6 GB and only 2% downloaded after over 6 hours. I'm in my first attempts and very disappointed!!!

Hi,

Indeed, you can modify the Internet router to make downloads faster under BitComet.
But you need to be good at computer stuff. Lol

You just have to access the router and, depending on your ISP, find the right section.
First, you need to check in BitComet Options to know the listening port (Options > Options > Connection > Listening Port).

Once that's done, you need to enter the router.

For your information, I have Orange (Livebox, of course!) and I was able to configure my router by clicking on:
- Configuration
- Advanced
- Router.

At this stage, you need to add a line in the "Router" section to enter the listening port in TCP and the same port in UDP.

After that, everything is fine. Everything is green ;)

Cya. I hope I've helped some of you.

Merci d'avance.
