Receive DTT without an antenna Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a TV that I would like to use to receive digital terrestrial television (DTT), but this TV is not connected to the main antenna. However, it does have a built-in antenna that works well, although the quality is not extraordinary.

I would like to know if it is possible to receive DTT on this TV without going through the main antenna and how the quality would be…

When I talk about an integrated antenna, I mean there is a kind of foldable antenna on top that we constantly have to move to get a decent picture quality... It's on a small 36 cm Thomson TV that is about 7 or 8 years old... You can still connect another antenna to it.

I found this indoor antenna on the Fnac website:

One For All Flat Antenna SV 9210
Extra flat indoor antenna VHF-UHF compatible with TNT - Amplified (38dB)
Power supply via 12 V transformer (included)

And on Darty, a Thomson antenna:
Amplified indoor antenna special for TNT
Covers all TV and radio channels from TNT
Power supply via mains or 5 Volts through the TNT receiver

And I was wondering if this antenna contained a decoder, so I could connect it directly to my TV without having to buy anything else...

Good evening....

I didn’t know there were TVs with a BUILT-IN antenna!
So I guess it’s INSIDE the device, and the ANTENNA/TUNER connection is not accessible to you?
If that’s the case, I don’t see how you could receive digital terrestrial television, knowing that, by definition, the decoder must FIRST decode the digital signal it receives from the antenna before sending it to the TV.....
If it’s just an antenna fixed behind the TV, and you have to connect it with a small cable to the “ANTENNA” input of the set, then you can still place the decoder between the antenna and the TV input.
But, if this antenna isn’t good quality for terrestrial reception, I can’t imagine it would be good for digital terrestrial television, but oh well.....?! ;)

There is no TNT reception without an antenna because it is naturally and necessarily part of the elementary principle encountered in terrestrial broadcast transmission..

I might be saying anything, but I think:

It is accessible if I buy an antenna, but I don't think it is with the retractable antenna... how can I check that?

EDIT: I said something dumb, it is accessible since a cable connects the retractable antenna to the TV...

Pour recevoir la TNT, il suffit d'avoir une antenne râteau que l'on doit relier au boîtier TNT ou à la TV (si elle est équipée de la TNT intégrée), c'est tout simple. Après, il suffit de lancer la recherche automatique des chaînes et le tour est joué.

before buying a "decoder", make sure your TV can receive TNT directly; it must be equipped with a TNT tuner since March 2008 and the HD TNT tuner option since December 2009, otherwise the decoder is unnecessary and is only dedicated to older TVs, generally cathode ones still in good condition. This way, we can extend the lifespan and usage time.

P.S. the indoor antenna is not a good solution even with strong signals very close to a transmitter!

Yes, unfortunately, but it's not normal. Do you see the date when you bought it? Because the dates I gave you are official; there’s a problem on the part of your seller if they sold you a "rossignol" (which translates to a product that doesn’t work). So of course, in your case, you need an external TNT box; there are good ones starting at thirty euros. And if your screen, like my old six-year-old plasma, has an HDMI port (it is HD ready), with a HD TNT decoder, I can see HD channels through TNT. As a point of reference, Akira is unbeatable at around 50€ => HD TNT + USB recording!
