Animated GIF in PowerPoint

indeed, I encountered the same issues. The animation is stuck on the first frame, with a loop value equal to 1 (many programs used to create animated gifs - including Image Magick - treat a value of 1 as "no loop," and PPT doesn't like that).
Moreover, if a higher value is entered, there isn't really any control over the start and end. The animation begins as soon as the slide it was inserted into is called. So it's difficult to synchronize with a presentation!
It only works properly for animations that can loop.

I do an image insertion from the file I choose my gif that I insert
and when I start the slideshow I only have a simple clipart and not an animated gif
is there anything else to do

Great tip to set it to 2 loops to get the GIF as a still image at the end of the first loop.
I had tested with 1 and 0 and was starting to despair :(
