how to save an animated Gif Solved

Question

Hello,
I went to a website to look for some Gifs for my webpage and when I right-click to save the image as... it saves the file as .BMP
I have no other options available in the file type in the save as dialog.
The save target option is also grayed out in the right-click menu...
Does anyone have a solution?

The solution is simple, right-click then save the image as and in the file name box change the extension to .gif instead of .jpg.

If the image remains frozen, try with another browser, for example Firefox or Google Chrome.

Hi  in IE: tools, internet options, then click "delete files" restart IE and you will be able to save other formats than bmp again -- a+ Taupo you know what? I'm happy

I have the same problem. I managed to create a GIF once and save it in GIF format, but since then I've tried to recreate another GIF, and I can't save it as a GIF. However, when I go to 'Save for Web', I only get image files in HTML, JPEG, and HTML, no GIF file. I'm using Photoshop CS2, so if anyone has a solution, that would be great. Thank you!

I have exactly the same problem as Yassine. I can't save as GIF with ImageReady; the only available format is PSD (Photoshop format). Then, when I switch my GIF from ImageReady to Photoshop and save it in GIF format, there is only the first frame and not the entire animation. Please help me, thanks.

Hello,

I had the same problem saving with Image Ready as Bastien.
Upon closer inspection, in the "Optimize" window, the JPEG extension was selected, so I chose the GIF extension.

If the "Optimize" window is not displayed: go to the Window menu and select "Optimize," then choose the GIF extension, and in the File menu select "Save Optimized Copy As..." the type images are changed to: Images(*.gif) And it works.

I have Photoshop 7, but I hope this helps you.

To save it and post it on the web with Photoshop, you need to go to "file"/"save for web and devices". And when it asks you, select "optimized". I posted it on an image hosting site and it works perfectly. ;)

Hi, so I had the same problem as you and I finally figured it out, it's very simple.
So you save your GIF in the videos (not in the images) and make sure the type is set to GIF, there you go, it's that simple :)
