Hello everyone,
I’m trying to understand what the Asus Live Update software is for.
It was already on my Asus laptop when I bought it and it’s still among the running software, but I don’t know what it does and I never see it “in action”...
I’d like to know if I can remove it because if I have no use for it, it would free up some space... :) And it might make my laptop run faster...
I’ve seen on forums that it has something to do with BIOS, but what is “BIOS”, and what does it mean in French, lol ????
Thanks to everyone who can answer me!

Hello,
So what is this little thing for?
Well, simply to perform updates automatically.
It's true that Asus hasn’t (or seems to have not) ensured the unexpected opening of this window.
To deactivate it: Go to Windows startup (Start, Run, type: msconfig, then in the startup tab, uncheck it) and run it from time to time to check if a new update is available.
Removing it isn’t necessarily required, but manually disabling it seems like a good choice. Apparently, if it seems to be slow or isn’t downloading, it means it has nothing to do!!! So you have to guess for it...
If you need to update manually:
Download Live Update from the ASUS website and select your PC's model:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=Live%20Update
Then you will see something like this:
42 files found
BIOS (3) [BIOS History]
Chipset (1)
ATK (5)
Audio (1)
VGA (1)
LAN (1)
Card Reader (1)
TouchPad (1)
Utilities (16)
Wireless (3)
Bluetooth (1)
Camera (2)
Others (3)
TV/Radio (3)
Thank you for checking the ASUS website before downloading anything and to ensure your BIOS reference.... And to follow the advice given by ASUS. It’s preferable: http://support.asus.com
Lastly, make it a habit to update. Twice a month isn’t too much to ask for your hardware to run well.
