How to connect to the hotel Wi-Fi???

Hello,
my friend is currently in a hotel in France with her brand new HP Pavilion 6820 laptop
I tried to help her over the phone but to no avail
she is able to connect to the hotel network but cannot access the internet!!!
I know this situation comes up regularly, but I couldn't find any way to help her connect
please help me give her the steps to follow so she can connect

      she has them that's why I'm asking for help because she's on it and either she's connected but without internet connection or she has a weak or nonexistent connection :s
