EXCEL - Copy a value to another sheet Solved

Question

Hello,

I'm sorry to bother you with such a basic question; I've searched the forum well but couldn't find it...

I have several pages in my workbook and I would simply like to paste a value resulting from a formula and copy that value which, once pasted, will change based on the source value.

I tried all the special pastes; it seemed to me that it was "formula", but that doesn't work (#REF)

Can you help me? :s

Have you tried the copy/paste with link? It allows you to retrieve a result that changes.

If your value is in cell B6 of Sheet1, to retrieve it in a cell on another sheet you enter =Sheet1!B6 -- Retirement is great! Especially in the West Indies... :-) Raymond

I can advise you to use the special paste and in that choose Paste Link, remembering that Paste Link only works between two different sheets of the same workbook and two distinct workbooks.

If you don't want to copy/paste with linking, but really just copy the value, simply do a plain copy (ctrl+c) and select "Paste Special" (Edit Menu > Paste Special) and choose Paste > Values.  Alternatively, to paste, click on the dropdown of the paste button in the toolbar and select "Values"...  I just haven't figured out how to create a "hotkey" for paste_values... like CTRL + SHIFT + V that would only paste the values from the formula... that would be quick!

As I wanted to find the shortcut for Paste > Values, the only solution I found was to create a macro for the "Paste > Values" part... and assign a key to it... I chose CTRL+e because I wasn't using it, but choose the combination that you prefer.

To create the macro go to the menu > tools > macro > new macro.

Before recording the new macro, choose the shortcut key (Ctrl+e) ... then when you start recording, you simply need to press the keys ALT-e,g,v <enter>... and save the macro..</enter>

Just click on the "target" cell: Type "=" and click on the "source" cell on the other page.  Excel is awesome :)
