I can't manage to give the items to the mayor. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

    Vous allez dans la décoration dans la pièce et là, vous allez dans le sac à dos ; et vous cliquez sur A et l'objet apparaîtra et vous le poserez.

    You have to create the character you want to give it to, then there will be an icon representing a little man with a gift; click on it, then go to your backpack (at the top right), place your item there, and that's it.
