Hello,
My PS3 no longer reads games, DVDs, and Blu-rays. I would like to know if a cleaning disc can clean the lens and therefore make the PS3 work again. If so, I would like to know where to buy this disc and how much it costs?
Thank you all

It's weird what Sony says about these lens cleaning CDs.
I found a lens cleaner CD while tidying up, and I thought, why not run it in my PS3?
I did, and since then, my console hasn't frozen at all.
Could it be a marketing technique from Sony to keep us from cleaning the lens and instead make us spend money on buying a new console?? Lol.
In any case, my console is doing better than before.
For those who know BF3 and its multiple freezes, well, since I ran it, my PS3 hasn't frozen at all.

For 3 days, my PS3 hasn’t read anything!!!
I turned it upside down and it worked!!! (just like back in the days of the PS1 and PS2!!)...but not for long because now, it's definite, it doesn't want to hear anything anymore, or rather it can’t read anything anymore!!
So I took it apart, removed the Blu-ray drive, taken apart the Blu-ray drive, cleaned that famous lens with a cotton swab to remove the dust (like for the PS1 and PS2)...I put everything back together but it still doesn’t work...
Between us, SONY really makes low-quality lenses, but I think it's intentional on their part (since the PS1 they could have significantly increased the lifespan of their lenses because they're not rookies anymore, they should have experience and especially feedback). They make sure to install very mediocre lenses that last just a bit longer than the warranty period and then the only option we have to repair it is to send it to SONY’s customer service, and the cost of repair is exactly the same as buying a new one...
I call that THEFT, considering the price of such a machine (really poor value for money in terms of reliability) and especially the price of games which is on average 70 euros!! And then I hear everywhere and read everywhere that SONY is the best etc...
The best consoles, the most reliable were NINTENDO and never has SONY come close to them in terms of hardware reliability, and solely on that criterion.
Thank you SONY for scamming me, once again...

Hi HIPCIO,
Mine broke down in June 2009. Like you, I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together, got frustrated, took it apart again, etc... at least 5 times in a row...
In the end, I ordered a lens from a French website, it cost me €75 including shipping. I reassembled it and...
Miracle! My 40GB PS3 was back to working like I’d never had a problem...
Happy as can be, I bought myself some games and enjoyed this resurrection...
...not for long.
A month and a half later, the lens broke again (of course WITHOUT warranty since I assembled it myself)
SO-ANNOYING!!!!
And then I read on a forum that it’s the overheating of the console that makes the Blu-ray fail.
Coincidentally, my second lens broke after a weekend when I had run the console 24/7.
It was serving as my Hi-Fi system...
Basically, you can repair your console, but if you don’t solve the overheating issue, or if you’re a heavy gamer (like playing several hours non-stop), you’re likely to run into the same problem again and again.
Personally, I’m waiting to see the reliability of the slim, I heard that the power supply is external, which should help a lot.
Good luck!

Hi...
thanks for this info, because in my opinion, overheating is really the problem!
This is already my second PS3 that won’t read games, and that’s because I play for hours on end...
I'm about to buy my third PS3 and this time the SLIM, hoping it will be better!
For me, SONY is really crap, but I have no choice, it’s either that or the xbox360...
Nintendo is probably more reliable, but I’m not excited about the Wii games!

Good evening, yes a cleaning disc will indeed clean your lens a bit, but I doubt that's the issue. You can always try it; it costs about 15€ at any supermarket like Casino, Carrefour, Cora, Leclerc, or others. If that doesn't solve your problem, then go directly to Sony's customer service if it's still under warranty.
There you go
See you later

OK, but in the box we have a different story:
" Not suitable for tray-loading players. "
That’s just great, the PS3 has a tray-loading drive... No big deal, I’ll keep it anyway but watch out for overly enthusiastic descriptions! "
