Canon MP160 Cartridge Change

I have a Canon Pixma MP160 printer: error message the 2 cartridges are empty: I change both cartridges for generics: error, everything is flashing: error E and 5. I go to the store: too bad, your printer does not recognize the matches, so I buy the right cartridges: too bad for me, still the same error message: What to do? 
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.13

    Hello, I had the same problem with an MP 150 and generic cartridges, but despite the cartridges not being recognized, the printing works very well, give it a try and let me know.

      First of all, thank you,

      But my printer doesn't want to cooperate, it keeps flashing everywhere, and I have two new cartridges of the right brand!
      It doesn't want to recognize them or maybe they are improperly installed: but besides pushing the cartridges into their slot, I don't think there are thirty-six solutions.
