Hi,
it's not vital but it's annoying me: how do I remove the Dell logo at startup? I was able to remove and change the one for Windows XP but not Dell's. It seems to appear before Windows boots up, actually. Thanks for your responses.
Julien
my hardware is therefore. Dell + Windows XP Home.

- Inspiron 6000
- Inspiron 8100
- Inspiron 8600
- Inspiron 9300
- Inspiron 9400
- Dimension 800
- Dimension 820
- XPS Gen2 (M170)
- XPS M1330

Hello,

To disable the manufacturer's logo at startup, press the Delete key when booting the PC to access the BIOS.

Once in the BIOS menu, a blue screen with various menus for beginners.

Go to the Boot tab using the Right and Left arrows on your keyboard.
Scroll down to "Boot Setting Configuration" using the Up and Down arrows on the keyboard.
Press the Enter key.
Scroll down to "Full Screen LOGO".
Press the + key on the numeric keypad to change the value to [Disabled].
Press "F10" and confirm [YES] by pressing the "Enter" key on the keyboard.

The PC restarts, and normally, the manufacturer's logo has disappeared.

Have a great week everyone,

The Technard

Hello,

Here is my issue with my DELL laptop, when I turn it on, there is the DELL logo with a progress bar that doesn't complete, it freezes for a few seconds then a message appears in English that says:
The device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. It may not be completely inserted or may have some
other problem.
Please read and complete the following steps in order:

1) Press the device completely and firmly into the bay.

2) Press the ESC key--wait for the system to power down.

3) Press the power button to retry detecting the device.

It is only after several attempts that I manage to start it.
Please help me.

Hi,
You go into the BIOS (look at the boot prompt: from memory, with Dell it's... well I don't know anymore :).
Once in the BIOS, look for an option regarding the logo. I don't have a Dell on hand so I can't help you. Sorry.
But if you really can't find it, I'll check on a Dell.

:)

Hi and thanks johndoe for your response. But I didn't find anything in the BIOS that indicates this startup page. And I didn't want to tempt fate. If you have a specific tip, then I'll give it a try.
I'll still go check again...

Uh... I just went to check on a Dell (Optifex), and I think I made a mistake: it was on IBM PCs that I removed the logo. On this Dell, I do see the logo at startup and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
Sorry

Anyway, contrary to what some say; you can't remove that Dell logo by flashing the BIOS (I did it on a Latitude D820, it doesn't work)
I don't have a solution to remove it either
